No.

There is a bus that goes to ChiangMai from Buriram but no flights.

^ Correct.

But I just checked the Nok Air site and if you fly via Don Muang it IMHO beats sitting 12 hours+ on a NIGHT bus

Sample Schedule

Airplane leaves 7:40am from Buriram, you will arrive 8:40am in Don Muang
Flight leaves 11:10 from Don Muang and you will arrive 12:20 in Chiang Mai

Return Trip
Leave Chiang Mai at 10:45, arrive at Don Muang at 11:55
Flight leaves 14:10 from Don Muang and arrive at Buriram 15:15

There are more options available but these ones seems doable.

Mike that sounds quite doable and indeed beats the bus. If you can manage to only have a carryon that would be better still.

Have anyone of you experienced an increase in "aircraft rotation" delays for NOK airlines?
Seems like every time I take the midday flight from Don Muang to Buri Ram on a Saturday ... I get e-mail saying it is delayed to the later flight (17.35) instead for 14.35....then get stuck at the airport for 3 hours longer than normal...

@Woody

We also had that happen to us when we came back from Singapore (on a Sunday), but we thought nothing off it as our original flight was already early evening. My guess (actually my wife's) is that the 14:35 flight didn't have that many passengers booking so instead of flying 2 planes (less then half full) just send only 1 plane that is almost full.

Yes, I have that feeling too...
I take the Air Asia from Singapore and then have 1.5hours at Don Muang transit time- on the edge - as you never know how long the immigration queue is... but normally I make it with spare time...  just would nice to catch that mid day flight rather than waiting 4 hours at the airport... :-)

I also wanna leave the airport quickly, but I also don't have confidence in Immigration at DMK. It took us (rather me as my wife uses the Thai line) almost 1hr 15 mins from leaving the Plane and then getting to Terminal 2. So we'd rather take the later flight then biting my nails that we will miss the flights (I have to go easy on the "ticker")

Same with Buriram -> DMK, we usually take a train to DMK but because of the frequent delays we always go a day early and sleep in the Amari @Don Muang so next morning with no stress we walk to the Airport.

Re: Singapore Changi

I was shocked when coming through Terminal 4 that there are NO Immigration officials anymore you just scan your Passport and fingerprints and you are "checked" out of Singapore. NO Exit stamp anymore. Really efficient. But the Check-In at Airasia was Chaos !!

Woody & iammike. I'd wager your suspicions ( or your wife's) are correct. Very common for low cost airlines to consolidate flights and although frustrating for passengers on the delayed flight makes very good business sense and also enables the airlines to keep their pricing low.

iammike : Yes, its great to have paperless and people less immigration  - such as T4 in Changi... I can't wait till that day will happen in the Land of Smiles too... the technology is there (for Thais only) - and should be lifted to other permanent residents in Thailand as well if not fully for all as in Singapore.

Freddy: Well, we just have to suck it up... I am "commuting" between Thailand/Buri-Ram and Singapore, and Air-Asia is still the best choice - price and time wise...
