Parking at airport or taxi?
« on: April 21, 2017, 02:05:21 PM »
Hey guys

When I go to Europe alone, my wife takes the car and picks me up when I return.

But this time we go on holiday together.
Question is:
Can we park the car at the airport for 3 weeks?
Or is it wiser to hire a taxi for the 2 rides?

Thanks for any infos

If it's Suvarnubhumi BKK then I would reccomend using the SSCP right at the front of the terminal. Cost is only 250 baht per day so will be around 5,000 for the 3 weeks which I'm guessing will be quite a bit cheaper than taxi both ways from this area.
They also have a Long Stay but it's a pain, quite far out, not a great shuttle service plus car baking on the sun for 3 weeks.
Just a tip. If you opt for the short stay the entry level which has the walkways across to the terminal is always heaving. Go down a couple of levels and always plenty of space and you can usually tuck yourself in a corner and position where you wouldn't get blocked in if they do the double parking thing.

If it's on the other hand BFV (Buriram / Satuk) Airport, I personally have never seen a guarded / paid car park, but I have seen cars parked there and when we got back a couple of days later they were still at the same place, but that could have also been employee cars.

I personally know of people that have parked there for 4 days and nights. As you said no guard. Parking there in an unsecured lot to me is not a good idea.

I have parked at BFV for 1 night no issue, but I would be leery of longer and arrange to get dropped off.

As far as BKK, while it can actually be several thousand baht cheaper to I would recommend a Taxi as I would not want a long drive after a long flight.  When I return in a few weeks Siam Taxi Tour will have my business again.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
And yes it's about "our" airport.... didn't think of Bkk

So I won't use the parking there.

How would you go to the airport then?
Get a taxi from the bus terminal? Or is there any better?
And how much would it costs?

I actually would if semi close.  However Im on my way to the US right now.

But easiest solution is to find a local Thai with a car drivers license and have them take you.  Maybe pay them 100 baht.

When I left my car for any length of time at Buriram airport I always used to leave it in the small car park by the control tower.  The tower is manned 24 hours a day and I never had any issues.

I was advised to do this by airport staff, wether it is still allowed is another matter, but can only ask.

Sorry for the delay, I was busy with bringing various family members to their doctors and lots more... well I guess you all know what can happen here ;)

Thanks for the many answers.

We are behind the big wat near the crossing 500m outside from taweekit.
And my wife doesn't want the car at the airport in the sun anyway, so it's a taxi, I guess.
Can I get cheaper than 500?
And be sure the driver picks us up on return?

Air Asia bus... that would be great of course, but where can I flag them down :)
