Internet Providers- Advice Please
« on: June 18, 2016, 09:24:41 AM »
I have a problem with my internet providers. We currently have a 25m tower with dish at our village just outside Lam Plait Mat. We lost service on Monday evening and having finally made contact with our providers on Buriram have been told the following:-
The government have disconnected the box and may not replace for a month. I think it's bull crap and they haven't paid their bill to CAT.
Can anyone recommend a good provider address/number please. Ideally I'd want to use existing tower and routers, just have them put their dish/ariel on top and contract for service.
Currently having to go and sit on coffee shop daily for essential Internet access. Would be OK if I had confidence my service would be reinstated in a few weeks but have lost trust with current provider.

Freddy- I use TOT and couldn't be happier.  I use their office in Nang Rong which is on the right hand side, just past the 7/11 coming from Lam Pli Mat.

Like Tassie I have TOT but I doubt they can use you excising system so you will have to fork out again for their system if you go with them .
There was a Thai guy selling CAT packages in our area ripping people off!!
Who was your supplier Freddy ?

We have been with TOT for a few years now, and have no complaints.
Any minor problems we have had have been sorted imediately after phoning them.
Last year the small black transformer for the router kicked the bucket. Just took it into
The office in Buriram and they replaced it there and then.
Very happy overall with the service  :)

Reads as if Freddy does not have any land line availability. TOT,3BB.True or AIS. What he was using is a 3rd party and that 3rd party has done a runner. Being on a tower says it all. Freddy contact TOT about Wi Net its what your 3rd party was doing but he was doing in the back door. Tot Wi Net is an excellent system as along as your not more than 10 km from the TOT tower. If you were legally on CAT your stuffed, check with TOT anyway on their Wi Net.

We almost switched to True visions for fiber internet, however 3BB offered us a better deal.

No idea if True is an option in your area.

I just left TOT office in Buriram. They will not sell winet service any more. True and 3BB not in my area. I need to find 5 people who want Internet for 3bb to install a box. Called TOT in lamplaimat same story. Lightning is the issue. So next stop is CAT. If that doesn't work out are there other options?  I am in Nong Ta Ngam about 10 km east of lamplaimat. Oh True just laughed said NO.

I think the issue is they have Oversubscribed which has cause many people to complain about the strength of their signal. On a Sunday my winet service is nearly unusable for streaming TV and is just about OK for loading pages like emails and forums :(

Night-time after 12:00am the service is great though  ::)

CAT said no way. Too far from government office to get signal.

Thank you all for your comments, suggestions and advice. Currently still off line at home however after a bit of work it seems we have a solution. CAT are running a fibre optic to our small village (Non Tacrong) on Thursday and we should be connected at home on Friday. Assured a steady 15MB service for 890bht a months. No charge for connection, routers etc....
6 other households also signed up for village thanks to my wife doing the running around.
Of course, time will tell but looking good at the moment.

Oh........and if anyone is after a 25m tower for wi-net I have one that I can sell along with a direct contact for the guys to take it down and re-site. We paid 48,000thb. Will sell for 12,000. I believe that taking down will cost around 4,000 and re-installation 7,000 so about 40% cost of buying new. Only 2 yrs old so shoul be good for many years.

We did a similar thing here. Wife and family went door knocking and we have at least 6 willing to sign contracts. 3bb will be out next week to assess.
