Buriram Cinema
« on: June 05, 2015, 11:13:04 AM »
The new 5 theatre cinema complex at the recently renovated Taweekit complex is really nice.

The movie selection is very good, showing the latest Hollywood and Thai movies. A terrific innovation is different screening times of these movies in either Thai or English language. The movie session times are clearly indicated as TH or ENG before you purchase a ticket.

100 baht for very comfortable, very big reclining seat in the "comfort section". Heaps of legroom
80 baht for a non reclining normal seat in the "economy section"

69 baht total for a large box of popcorn & giant cup of cola. Very reasonable.

We watched the TH language movie "San Andreas". Was a good action disaster movie from start to finish, and made no difference that I didn't understand a word of dialogue. It was definately a visual "boom boom blow 'em up" movie.

The updated version of Jurassic Park (Jurassic World) starts 11th June.

Do the English movies have Thai sub titles and is there someplace online you can see what's showing.

Tried to buy a couple of tickets for tomorrows screening of the latest Terminator movie.

Girlfriend was told by the young ticketting lass "you can only buy tickets for todays sessions ... cannot sell ticket for tomorrow."

What the ?? That's about as useful as tits on a bull !! Especially if you've driven some distance, only to be told "sorry ... full ... come back another day."

Not really a big deal for me, as I live close to the cinema ... but that's a pretty archaic booking system.

I suppose I'll get over it.   :D      Have another Bailey's

Currently showing Terminator and Jurassic World. Many sessions in Thai or English each day.

Another one of those " depends who is on the desk" situations.

I know of at least 3 people (Thai) who have tickets for Saturday.  Hom hum......!!!

That's good news. I really could not believe that a beautiful modern cinema complex could not sell tickets for another date.

Perhaps the lass concerned was a "lunchtime temp" roped in from the pop corn counter ?

A new "construction zone" fence has been erected behind BigC in M.Buriram

I'm informed by one of the lads working on the site that it is to be a cinema complex.

Not sure that Buriram needs more cinemas ? Everytime I've been to a Thai language movie, the theatre has been almost empty.

Maybe BigC is trying to keep up with the Jones's ...... ie. Taweekit and Robinsons ?

Agree, on the occasions I have been to the 2 existing cinemas they have been very quiet. I just can't see the city supporting a 3rd successfully and it will unfortunately mean that all 3 will struggle.
