Dash Cams for use in Cars
« on: May 25, 2015, 04:23:59 PM »
Not wanting to get the discussion about the 331 road completely derailed, I am opening this new topic about Dash Cams for use in Car.

At the moment I have 2 Dash Cams, both have Full HD1080p recording and both start automatically recording (1 even with saying "Start Recording" ;) ) when I turn the ignition key.

The one in front I use is the GDR-30, this one is directly connected to my GPS and also works in combination with a Garmin GPS (currently only supports the: nüvi 3560LM, nüvi 2575, nüvi 2565, nüvi 3592LM). The price only for the Recorder is around 5500 THB.

The one in the back Window is the Garmin GDR-35. This is a standalone Full HD Dash Cam with integrated GPS. The price is around 7500 THB. You can use this one also in combination with another Cam (GBC-30) but the recording quality will almost halve.

Tips:

- Get Full HD 1080p as with lower resolution Cams you will not be able to identify number plates in case you need it.
- When you buy a Full HD Dash cam, also get Class 10 Micro SDHC Memory cards. I have these: http://www.invadeit.co.th/product/memory-cards/sandisk/64gb-ultra-microsdxc-memory-card-class-10-sdsdquan-064g-p022702/

Of course there are other brands, but I have tested a couple but these suite me, another brand for Good Dash Cams is Black Vue http://www.blackvue.com/en/main/main.asp but I have no idea where to get these except for the IT Malls in BKK.

Is Grab Car already operational in this part of Thailand? If so, then dash cams are important to assure the security of each drivers and riders.
