I do a bit of recycling. In fact I have just started to recycle a bottle of gin and a pack of tonic.

Happy New Year.

It's a bit early in the day for me....I'll be having my first beer around 12:35....

My new house is right next to the village stereo system. Better to join them that try to beat them.

By the time you have your first beer I will probably be away with the fairies and speaking fluent Khmer.

Will Massimo be doing delivery?

I prefer to be "intouch" with my wife's feminine side.

Funny you should say that. Just had an order for 60 sausage rolls.

How are your pasties?

Also, keeping the thread on topic .... did you know there is a recycling collection "mafia" ?

More to follow after I find my pasties.

Everything that I throw into the big blue rubbish bin outside my place gets rummaged by at least 10 different local "recycle" collectors every day. Nothing of any value escapes these guys ie. plastic, glass, paper, metal etc

On a different tack ... what's the big deal about throwing stuff into a blue bin as Davu has says he does ? The blue bins belong to the Municipality and are for everyone's use.

I have 2 blue bins outside my place that are used by 26 houses in the soi. The bins are filled everyday, and emptied every night at 4am. Every so often, an unknown pickup will stop and drop a shitload of rubbish into the bins, then nick off. Maybe it's Davu ?  555   No big deal. The bins are public property.

Well I don't live in Buriram, that's why I am furtive. Maybe 5 -6 sacks of non recyclable stuff a week. Nobody has ever 'yack yacked' us as my wife says, and I don't quite understand why some people dump their stuff next to the bins even when they are empty.
The shop next door to us has stacked up a huge pile of plastic and stuff that attracts rats, and we are looking forward to the joyous  annual ceremony of setting it alight.
When we have enough beer cans (I do my best), the son in law phones somebody and they come get it. They also take all our old glass, paper, cardboard and metal. Plastic goes into the Buriram bins along with cat litter. We compost everything compostable.
I had trouble explaining this to my wife at first, but since she saw Switzerland she understands, and the family tribe understands my horror of people throwing plastic all over the yard.
