Hi people, What is the price of beer in the shops now? some guy on another site said he paid 75 bht for a large Leo in 7/11, not sure where, probably Pattaya. This is twice as much as I was paying in December. Inflation or what?

For sure not 75 baht/bottle of Leo, maybe only in bars..

Lately the government higher the tax on Alcohol and Tobacco so people worrying now.. hehe..

In the local shops you should be able to buy a big Leo for 45 Baht, Chang for 40 Baht. Archa (ugh) for 30 Baht. That's after the tax increase.

Those prices seem around 5b cheaper than in Surin

A large leo in 7/11 is now around 45 baht

In 'HOKKEE' earlier today the case prices were 483/12 lge Leo,400/12 lge Chang,315/12 lge Archa................

These are, of course, wholesale prices... but in Makro at least, you can buy a single case.

These are of course NOT wholesale prices,Anyone can walk in & buy a single case just as you can in Makros,Big C or,Tesco Lotus......................

Well it obviously depends where you live..............My lass sells about 24 bottles a week.............

There is actually a two-tier wholesale system; Leo etc sell in bulk to Makro, Lotus etc, who then sell on in case lots to the small shops (and individual customers).

I'm well aware of the wholesale system they operate here........At the present time,the minimum order to obtain the discounted price is 500 boxes............which is quite an outlay for the typical 'man in the street',especially when you look at the small discounts they offer.................

I'm currently paying less for cases of Chang beer than I was before the LARGE INCREASES IN EXCISE DUTY/TAX.
