Sometimes it's not as easy as that, people have families and investments here that you just can't walk away from.

Shit, what have I started ??? C'mon guys, settle.

How about some positive vibes ? I'm committed to retiring in LOS, even after my past experience so all the negatives won't put me off. Like the old saying goes, if you can't say something nice... have another beer....  no, that's not quite right, but you get my drift.

I'm positively negative about not retiring in LOS.

Welcome to BE Mal ......Its pretty much like this all the time on this forum. Which is what forums are for (the sharing of knowledge )

It also makes for some interesting (sometimes comical) reading.

Single married gay or straight, you will find Buriram an interesting area to retire to.

Many have, and as Antonio pointed out, if you are fortunate with your partner, life can be good.

There are also a few singles guys here that appear to be quite happy as well :P

There is possibly a heap of things to do here depending on your interests and outlook.

Good luck with the move (wherever you end up)

I can't see you having any problems here at all.

Well if that's true you will most certainly be the first.

Antonio... mate.

If I promise not to retire in LOS & think about Mongolia will that make you happier ??? You'll have to try much much harder to deter me from "the plan." I'm sure you must have a bottomless bucket of negativity you're just waiting to use. Go for it, try your hardest.

Just out of curiosity... what's made you so bitter & twisted ?

Hugs & kisses.   love6

It's not about being bitter and twisted,it's about reality.

So many come here and to be honest they haven't got a chance from the minute they arrive.

Most don't want to listen to any advice because they think they know all the answers, and most know nothing.

I am tired of listening to stories of "My wife /girlfriend is different"then 2 years down the line realise that the only difference

between the Thai wife/girlfriend and the falang,is the falang stupidity.

Anyway enjoy your retirement, and i hope you have many years of happiness here in Thailand. smilenod

I wish you well

Mal.

Mal,

Do you speak Thai?

If yes, then you may fit in.  I know of a 40ish TG right now that wants a Farang, her sister is married to a Brit.  However, she does not speak English.

I also recommend you have a plan for something to keep you occupied, otherwise you will end up at the Irish bar.

I enjoy the layed back lifestyle. I really love dogs, and Thai's seem to collect dogs.  I have only been here 19 months, but I am really glad I made the decision to move here.  However, if it was not for my wonderful TG, this place could really suck.

Great luck to you.

Ok,I'll rephrase,I have never had a problem in Thailand,in 3 years here, full time, and years coming and going,if a thai does something stupid,I just smile, and that seems to fix alot of things...to be honest I have had more problems with farang idiots then Thai's....you know the kind, drunk off their heads...Poms and also Aussies, and a few Scandies, tatoo's all over them in their 30's,trying to take on the world. But in fairness,EVERYONE I have met in Buriram are decent and good people,so maybe it depends where you live here,JasonB.
