Under-fire FIFA executive committee member Worawi Makudi cancelled a news conference on Friday that he had scheduled to discuss the Thai Football Association presidential elections impasse.

"There is no press conference today, the president (Worawi) is busy. So we've decided to move the press conference to next week but I can't say for sure what day," Ongart Kosinka, secretary-general of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), told Reuters on Friday.

Worawi told Reuters earlier this week that 'all would be revealed on Friday' with regard to the election and controversial reforms he wanted to implement before going to the polls, a move that has seen him come under fire from top administrators and member clubs.

Worawi's term as FAT president ended on June 16 but he cancelled the elections slated for the same day after failing to push through controversial FIFA-backed reforms that included slashing the number of eligible voters by more than half to 72.

Worawi said more discussions over the changes will take place on August 8 with September 23 the new election date.

That move has angered the majority of member clubs with 108 of the 179 signing a petition demanding the election takes place on July 23 or they will hold it themselves in early August.

The Sports Authority of Thailand said they are not against the reforms but have demanded Worawi holds the election this month in line with local law that states an election must take place within a month of an incumbent's term ending.

It leaves the 61-year-old Worawi facing his biggest fight to retain power and the FAT in a messy situation ahead of high-profile matches friendly matches against European giants Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Worawi, though, is the great survivor of Asian soccer politics. He was one of the few confidants of former AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam to retain his standing with FIFA after the Qatari was banned for life for corruption and bribery in a doomed bid to become head of the world governing body.

Worawi, who lost to Sheikh Salman Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa in the Asian Football Confederation presidential elections in May, has also faced corruption charges in the past but successfully defended himself.

Soccer fan Pinit Ngarmpring and former national team manager Virach Charnpanich are standing against Worawi in the FAT elections.

bravo1 Leicester awarded Category One academy status
Leicester City's academy has been awarded Category One status, the highest level under the Premier League's Elite Player Performance Plan.

City passed a strict audit, including meeting the best standards in football and coaching philosophy, facilities and personnel, and player development.

Academy director Jon Rudkin said: "This is a project the academy and wider club has been focusing on over 15 months.

"It is part of the combined vision of the club and its owners."

From the start of the 2012-13 season, the EPPP initiative has seen Premier League and Football League academies independently audited, on behalf of the Football Association's Professional Game Board and placed in to one of four categories.

The new system replaces the original two-tier model of Academies and Centres of Excellence.

"It's a very exciting development for the club and the academy," Rudkin added.

"It will bring the players some excellent and tough challenges, which will be a significant benefit to them as part of their own development, as well as the long-term benefit of the club."  congrats This can only be good new's for  buriram_united

Thai Premier League Wrap: Buriram, Muang Thong continue title battle

Buriram United continued their unbeaten run as Muang Thong United maintained the pressure at the top of the Thai Premier League.

Buriram, who have dropped just eight points so far this season, secured a 2-1 win away to Suphanburi to maintain their grasp of top spot.

Anawin Jujeen opened the scoring in the 30th minute at the Suphanburi Stadium, before Jesus Berrocal Campos doubled the advantage seven minutes later.

Things got worse for the home side when Njie Devine was dismissed, but they did give their opponents a scare when Dragan Boskovic netted in the 63rd minute.
But they were unable to find the equaliser as Buriram secured their 13th win of the season.
Muang Thong earned their third straight league victory with a 2-0 win away to Army United at the Thai Army Sports Stadium.
Piyapol Bantao opened the scoring as early as the fifth minute as they went into half-time with a goal advantage.
And Siaka Dagno's seventh goal of the season wrapped the points up in the 70th minute to leave Muang Thong on Buriram's heels.
At the bottom of the table, Pattaya United earned a crucial three points in their showdown with Samut Songkhram at the Nong Prue Municipality stadium to leave them two points adrift of safety.
Niweat Siriwong struck in the 54th minute as Pattaya secured their first win in six games, while Songkhram now sit just one place above the relegation zone.
Folllow strugglers Ratchaburi and Chiangrai United both suffered narrow defeats. The former were undone by the odd goal in five as they fell to a 3-2 defeat at home to Osotspa, while Chiangrai lost 1-0 away to TOT.

Elsewhere, Bangkok Glass secured a 1-0 success over Songkhla United, Bangkok United drew 0-0 with Police United and Chonburi were 3-0 victors over BEC Tero Sasana.
