Very poor taste guys, although looking at the times of your posts, I assume your were both well oiled.

After losing his legs, he went on to drive in the German Touring Car Championships using hand controls and now this superb achievement.

Don't you think he deserves some respect ?

I do!! Alex has shown fantastic spirit. I enjoyed watching him race in F1 and in the USA and was devastated by his accident. I would one day like to shake his hand. He's a helluva bloke.
Cheers,
JT

You have a selective memory my friend.

The Roman Empire included most of what would now be considered Western Europe. The empire was conquered by the Roman Army and a Roman way of life was established in these conquered countries. The main countries conquered were ENGLAND/Wales (then known as Britannia), Spain (Hispania), France (Gaul or Gallia), Greece (Achaea), the Middle East (Judea) and the North African coastal region.
 I rest my case.

And in more modern times how was the record in WW1  and WW1 - not quite so conquering.

He deserves the utmost respect and I am sure that Toffo was not being specific - rather generalising re Italians.

Well first and foremost THE RECORD IN WW1 AND WW1 WOULD BE THE SAME.
You British do make me laugh still acting victorious over the so called great world wars.
Stop living in the dark ages my friend and accept people of all nationalities and religion and disabilities.
We are all the same underneath that thick skin.

Whatever happened to the other Italian F1 driver who lost an arm ?   Alessandro Nannini think he also did some touring car races.

That's started me off, it seems a nasty habit they need to break, what with Clay Reggazoni as well, although he might have been Swiss Italian.

One week after the 1990 Spanish Grand Prix he was involved in a helicopter crash in Siena in which his right forearm was severed. The injury healed thanks to successful microsurgery but it ended his Formula One career. He had participated in 78 Formula One grands prix. He won 1 race, achieved 9 podiums, and scored a total of 65 championship points.

Despite only regaining partial use of his right hand, Nannini was able to carve out a successful career in touring car racing with Alfa Romeo in the 1990s.

Nannini competed for Mercedes in the 1997 FIA GT Championship finishing 6th overall before hanging up his helmet. He now runs a chain of upmarket cafes bearing his name, with branches as far flung as Indonesia.

2007 saw Sandro Nannini’s return to the track after a decade in retirement. He agreed to take part in the short-lived Grand Prix Masters Championship for Formula One veterans, in the first time he has raced a powerful single seater since his F1 career ended in 1990, alongside drivers including his former Benetton team mate Johnny Herbert.
