New Law Banning Drinking On Government Premises IssuedBANGKOK, 23 August 2012 (NNT) - A Prime Minister’s Office announcement banning the sale and the consumption of alcohol on the premises of government agencies has been published in the Royal Gazette. It will be effective from today, August 23.The law, earlier proposed by the National Alcohol Policy Committee, states that both the sale and consumption of
beverages are prohibited in all state enterprises and state agencies, excluding shops, clubs or residences housed in the premises.
The ban will not be imposed on the Excise Department’s Liquor Distillery Organization, however.
The move follows another legislature banning the drinking of
beverages in public vehicles and in factories, issued on August 8.
