Fatal accident

We need some help please. On saturday the 5th of May at 2pm, one of our family, an 11 year old girl, was killed in an accident. She was travelling on a motorcycle with her mum and elder sister on road number 2075 about 1km from Nikom heading towards Ban Kruat. There were three pick-ups involved but none of them stopped to render assistance. We now know that the pick-up that hit and killed her was a WHITE MITSUBISHI TRITON 2 door cab ( not king cab, just the 2 seats). We are desperate to find this vehicle and hopefully the driver. The near-side door mirror was damaged and there will be a (small) area of damage to the near-side front wing.  We've been told that there could also be damage to the off-side door mirror when it hit a pick-up going in the opposite direction but have no actual proof of this. If anyone sees this WHITE MITSUBISHI TRITON PICK-UP, can they call me, Mick, on 0861533991. Your call and any information will be treated with confidence -- we just want to find that vehicle. Thanks for your help in keeping this post on top. We've also got another lead which we are following up tomorrow. I don't know if ATM cameras record all the time or only when a card is inserted in the machine, but right opposite the Nikom market intersection is an ATM machine. We are going to the bank to find out -- hopefully the camera is live and may well have the pickup on record. That is if no-one was drawing cash and standing in front of the camera at that time.....

Shame, but as I thought, the ATM machines here are only activated when a card is inserted. But a lead is a lead and I'm following them all up. One bit of good news is that there is a rubber factory near Ban Nong Maingam and they have security cameras at the front gate, one of which picks up all traffic on the main road. The security firm say they will go through saturday May 6th's recording. it will show Nang and her girls go past on the motorbike and somewhere in the following 5 minutes should be the pickup we are looking for. I doubt it will show the registration number, but it'll show if it's just a ' normal ' pickup, or if it has sign writing or a ' body ' on the back. Today whilst driving around we saw about 6 white Misubishi Triton 2 dr pickups. One was a rescue vehicle, one a Nestle ice cream delivery pickup, one roof panel delivery pickup with the very long white attachment for carrying up to 8 metre roof panels ( and these drivers go like stink ) and three normal trucks. I wasn't in my pickup when the roof panel pickup went by. By the time I had got started and turned around he was way in the distance. I gave chase but by the time I got to Nikom I couldn't see if he had turned left or right. I'll be visiting the roof panel stockists tomorrow.

Thanks Ray. Well, after all the running around and detective work, we have now had two people come forward and relate what they saw. One girl on a motorbike says she saw the picup hit Keow but swears blind it was a silver Toyota Vigo. Not sure what they call it but she says it's ' the high one ' ( Isuzu would call it the Highlander ). Someone else who lives in the area of the accident said they were driving along the new section of road just outside Prakhon Chai towards Ban Kruat after 2pm on saturday the 5th, and a silver Toyota Vigo went past them flat out. They noticed that the door mirrors were broken. All they can remember of the number plate as 20 but it was Buriram plates. This puts us in a dilemma. The n/s door mirror back that the police found at the accident is without doubt from a Mitsubishi Triton. We're taking a trip to Buriram this week and will visit both Mitsubishi and Toyota. Nang ( Keow's mum ) is getting a lot of help wherever we go because she has the police report of the accident with her. Then there's the paint on the front brake lever which to the naked eye looks white. Fortunately a very good friend of mine in the UK says he can pull a few strings and get ' his forensic boys ' to analyse the paint so this looks like the next step. Please keep your eyes open lads, time is passing by and the longer the driver of this vehicle thinks they've got away with killing Keow, the more likely it is they'll venture out and about. As a footnote, the police have asked the family to give them 3 months to solve the case.....

Firstly, can I say that I hope justice is served correctly and i am very sorry for the loss.

Secondly,(if you are not already doing it) can I respectfully suggest you keep your investigations VERY VERY private in this country as we are all only visitors and can sometimes unjustly victimised.

Personally, probably nothing but that's only because I'd be at the back of a very long queue. if the offending person is caught, it's up to our niece's parents to decide what to do...

Sorry hear of your loss and I hope you catch the people responsible.  May I suggest checking for cameras down the road from where the accident happened. Even a few km's....Good luck Mick
