US military helicopters to survey deadly Thai flooding

From the BBC 29/10/2011

The Thai authorities have asked US military helicopters to survey flooding, which has hit the north and is now threatening the capital Bangkok.

Two Seahawk helicopters aboard the USS Mustin warship would conduct "aerial reconnaissance", the Pentagon said.

We know that the Thai authorities have shown how useless they are at combatting the floods, but surely they have or are capable of finding 2 Thai helicopters, to do their own flood survey!!!

And realistically, this should have been started ages ago, and carried out on a daily basis!

I read the other day that the US ships had departed as their offer of help was rejected. But with Thais record on Helicopter accidents I wouldn't be surprised with the request

Yeh Im not sure Thai choppers can fly more than a few mins without crashing unfortunately. But why does thailand need help doing areal recon?  It can be done with any small plane that can carry a pilot and a guy with a camera. I suspect Yingluck wants to have the appearance of "bringing in the authorities" (not that Im against Yingluck) btw.

Unfortunately I dont see how she is going to come out of this unscathed. Whether  she could have done anything or not about the water (and I think she did everything she could) she will be blamed by the people that already dont like her.

I can imagine Abhisit and his Democrat party are quite pleased they lost the recent election.

Jim is Thai slang for pussy!

And you should have known that 'red jet' was fully aware of that.

Whilst Red Jet is a mine of information, he does not know everything. Happy to help out.

I once accidentally used the word  jim instead of yim when asking girls to smile for a photo.   Hilarious!

I once learned the important distiction between the correct pronunciation of 'snow' and how it differs from 'horse vagina'.

I dont suggest you say 'Hee Ma' without carefully studying the tonal indiosyncrasies of Thai unless you want the room to shoot beer thru their nose and NEVER let you live it down.  brick1

ahhhh...the trials and tribulations of being a farang :D
