Fishing in Surin
« on: March 26, 2011, 07:36:05 PM »
Me and two friends ( Trevor and Liverpool Alan ) decided to have a days fishing in Surin. The fishing park there is now only open at the weekends  :( as the owner has another job weekdays :) .The fishing park is on the ring-road and I have fished it many times. I set Alan and Trevor up for catching Pla Sawai (  Stripped Catfish ) whilst I decided to do some Light Line Float fishing around the quiet edges and corners of the lake.Soon the happy duo were reeling in the catfish and Trevor caught a nice Pla Jermet (  Pacu )which he managed to get in without get bitten off ( as they have many teeth and often bite through the line )
Lots of keen angles seem to forget the margins when fishing and with a little skill and patience some nice fish can be caught right under your rod-tip .The first fish I had on the bank was a nice Pla Yissok ( Rohu ) which weighed about 2.5 Kilo and  put up a good scrap on my light tackle ( 4 LBS line and size 6 hook under a small float ) and then another . Soon the float was sliding away again the time a very nice Pla Taipen (  Java Bar ) of 2 Kilo. thumbup
We then stopped for lunch and the owners sister has a Noodle shop that sells the best Kwai Jub ( spelling) I have tasted which was washed down with a large Leo.( Trevor and Alan had the same    hungry1 ).
Then back to some more fishing.I tried another quiet corner and this time I hooked into a Pla Lat ( Gourami ) .I must have found a small shoal because as soon as the float hit the water I was in again and then again. My normal plan of attack is to mix up about 2 kilo of Lum( you can buy a big sack for 100baht from the rice mills and will last for many trips ) in a bucket with just water, mix to a stiff paste and uses as ground bait. I ground bait  with about 2 golf ball size balls as I start fishing and then throw in more ground bait after every fish I catch or every 15 minutes and then just fish with bread flake over the top, simple.
The bill for the 3 of us including food ,bait and fishing was 500 baht ,now that what I call a cheap fun day out. 8)

The fishing park would seem to do good business. Not just Boloa and friends, but Manupete also with friends.

Won't see me there. Fishing is far too slow for me. I need action!!

I am Trevor and a good friend of Alan,Yes Im not a big poster like some but me and Alan do discuss what is said on forums. We are now in Korat with Colin and Tony doing our 90 reports. When I saw what you said I had to laugh, are you that desperate that you have to lie to get people to post on Surin Farang  :D

PS You say that do not subscribe to multiple identities ,to me that is a laugh as you are one of the greatest offenders I know  :P
