Last night I watched Rabbit Hole
One of the best films I've seen so far this year for me 9/10  thumbup

I wouldn't rate this too highly. Slow and dull, I thought, more like 6/10

Maybe because I have lost a daughter I could associate with the character more than someone that hasn't.Sometimes films can move different people in different ways ...still one of the best films I've seen this year IMHO  :)

I'm very sorry to hear that. :(

I was over 25 years ago but I still remember the anguish me and my ex-wife went through at the time, time is a healer .The only thing I was trying to point out is people view films in different ways.Movie reviews are personal views and are neither right or wrong .David is right in giving Rabbit Hole a 6/10 for him but for me it was a 9/10.I do the reviews as I see them ,its a shame more members don't do reviews to give us a more rounded picture  :)

That was not meant to take a dig at you,Alan but I was just giving feedback. As I have said before most of your grades seem about right but that one caught me out. I suppose it sort of gets me back for my "I spit on your grave" review joke !   icon_heart icon_heart icon_heart party3 party4

I didn't take it as one .If you look at Rotten Tomatoes site they give Rabbit hole a 87% (as me a 9/10 ), if you go to Best for film site they give it a 3/5 ( as you a 6/10 ),so as you can see reviews can very .No rights or wrongs just reviews  :)

BTW Have a look at the Best for Film site ,it gives you all the info on up and coming films and news for film lovers  thumbup

Tonight I watched Insidious

What else can I say  :o. At 51 there's not much that scares me in the way of movies since I've seen about every scary movie that's been made, but "Insidious" raised the bar and did it with a lot of heart. I constantly got chills over my entire body literally with how its presented. The plot is a bit like Poltergeist but with a great surprise ending.
If you like horror movies ,you'll like Insidious..8/10

I dislike horror/scary movies. I see no point in spending ~90 minutes of 'tok jai' or run the film further to avoid these moments. No point really.
My point of view is that these movies main potential viewers are 15-25 years old max.

I'm trying to look at 'Knockout' at the moment but too many things to do I'm still stuck at 6:27minutes..... ;)

I will give you report and RATING later.

No. Its a highschool movie of teenager his friends beating him and than he meet the guard there taking him to learn how to fight and boxing.....so I dropped it, its really not my style so now I am in search after a better movie....I need movie that make you think, sophisticated not flat..... I will let you know, as for now, Rating is 5/10 for the 'knockout'.

Tonight I watched The Lincoln Lawyer

Matthew McConaughey has arrived, this is the sort of movie I like. It's about a fast-talking criminal lawyer who has just regained his licence after some unspecified  petty sin, unable to afford an office, he does business on the move, from the back seat of his chauffeured Lincoln car. Mick Haller (Matthew McConaughey ) catches a break when he's retained by super-rich-kid Louis Roulet (Ryan Phillippe), who's accused of rape and assault. John Romano's smart, savvy script motors along as we see how Hallet knows all the angles and how to work the system. It's a world of cynical lawyers cutting deals, overwork cops and cons brooding over sinister secrets.A must for those that like courtroom drama's ,fast paced with humour thrown in to..8.5/10  thumbup

Tonight I have watched Thor

The film is about Thor(Chris Hemsworth), son of Odin(Anthony Hopkins)and brother of Loki(Tom Hiddleston), is all set to become King of Asgard but his rash act of stupidity towards the Frost Giants of Jotunheim threatens the peace of the realm. As punishment, Odin takes Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, the source of his power, and banishes Thor to Earth. Odin also drops the hammer to Earth where it can only be wielded by a worthy individual. On Earth, Thor meets Jane Foster(Natalie Portman, who seem to be in all the new movies at the moment  icon_heart)and her friends, but finds that without the power of his hammer, he is now mortal. With Asgard threatened by the Frost Giants, and his brother Loki making mischief, can Thor learn from his mistakes and wield his hammer again so that he return home
This firm is directed Kenneth Branagh and has a quality cast with excellent performances by all of them ,topped up with a  solid screenplay make Thor a very entertaining movie for those that like Action,Fantasy and Adventure.8/10 thumbup

Today I watched the Source Code
The film is about Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) an American Army helicopter pilot whose last memory is flying in Afghanistan, wakes up on a commuter train. But he discovers he has assumed the identity of another man. 8 minutes later the train explodes and Stevens finds himself in some kind of pod. He then talks to someone named Goodwin who tells him he has to go back and find who the bomber is. He is sent back and is going through the whole thing again and tries to find who the bomber is but fails and the bomb goes off and he is back in the pod. He is sent back again and still can't find out anything. When he comes back he asks what is going on, Goodwin and Rutledge, the scientist in charge tells him he is part of a project that can put someone in another person's consciousness during the last 8 minutes of their life. Stevens says why doesn't he just stop the bomb, he is then told that he is not going back in time but placed in the moment so he can find out who the bomber is and if there are any other targets
I really enjoyed this film but it did have a touch of Deja Ve , Minority Report with a tad of Groundhogday thrown in to boot, that's why I'm only going to give it 8/10 instead of a 8.5/10, this movie is definitely worth watching. Duncan Jones pulls an excellent script together- top producer and Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan (who plays Christina Warren ,the girl on the train )are both good actors and play their parts well in the film.

Last night I watched I am number Four

This movie from Dreamworks Pictures is about John,an extraordinary teen, masking his true identity and passing as a typical high school student to elude a deadly enemy seeking to destroy him. Three like him have already been killed ... he is Number Four.
The movie is well presented, its flow is very smooth although at some points I feel that its rhythm accelerates. The characters are very well done, everybody is OK for their rolls, and they carry off the  supernatural race well. The fight scenes are excellent, and number 6, the woman, really surprises me with some good fight scenes. The plot is interesting and the entire movie is well done but more suited to teenagers and 20-30 year olds IHMO. The movie is open for a sequel as there are a few unanswered questions left at the end . I enjoyed this film so its a  8/10 ( again  )

Here's the trailer....
