I like the betting odds:-  250-1 against Australia to win, 67-1 against a draw, and 1.002-1 against an England win!

169-6 at close... that should be all over bar the shouting.

It's been a weird series so far:  a nothing match, followed by an innings win, a thumping defeat, another innings win... we need to win the final test to win the series, even though we've already retained the Ashes.  I wonder whether the Australian selectors have got the courage to experiment with the team for the final test... Ponting, Clarke, Hughes, and Smith out, Hauritz in for the unfortunate Harris... and four new faces.  Hussey as captain, probably.  They couldn't do worse than this lot!

So Ponting is out of the Sydney test, "because of the deterioration of his little finger injury."  No doubt this is true, but an awful lot of people won't believe it.  How much better if he'd been ruled unfit for Melbourne!  Not a nice way for a great player to go.

So it looks like the last test could be Pontings last as Captain

KP reckons England would NOT have refained the Ashes if he was still the Captain

Good to have Khawaja in, for all sorts of reasons.  But I'm afraid the selectors have rather washed their hands of the whole business... no changes except those mandated by injuries.  Clarke has not shown himself a very good captain in one-dayers;  this would have been an opportunity to blood Hussey or even Haddin, and I think both choices would have been popular.

We still need to beat them to win the Ashes, as opposed to just retain them.
