source: CNNgo.comTour de Thailand returns again for the 8th annual nationwide bike ride, going from Chiang Mai to Phuket to raise money for Operation Smile Thailand and The Skills Development Centre for the Blind.
The bike ride, from December 7 through January 1, 2011, will journey through the jungle-clad mountains of the north to the deep blue Andaman Sea of the south, as a total of 1,900 kilometers are covered across Thailand.
For those who cannot ride the entire journey, they are invited to take part in the Ayutthaya–Pak Kret/Bangkok Ride, from December 17-18, 2010.
The kickoff starts in Ayutthaya with a light & sound show followed by a dinner party. On the morning of December 18 the ride will start from Ayutthaya with blind cyclists riding on the back of tandem bicycles.
The ride will finish at the Skills Development Centre for the Blind in Pak Kret, where riders will board a beautiful teak boat for a dinner cruise down the Chao Phraya to end at the Saphan Taksin Pier (Sky Train). The rider's bicycles will be transported from the Centre for the Blind to the Imperial Queen's Park Hotel (Sukhumvit Soi 22) and available for pick-up between 9 a.m. and noon on the 19th.
The registration for the Ayutthaya–Pak Kret/Bangkok Ride is 3,000 baht per person and each participant needs to raise a minimum of 2,000 baht to be shared between Operation Smile Thailand and the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand.
