Thai exports expand 46.3% in June

June exports expand 46.3%The country’s exports for June were up 46.3 per cent from the same month last year with a total value of US$18.04 billion, Commerce Minister Porntiva Nakasai said on Wednesday.
“The exports had been increased by two-digit figures for eight straight months and the expansion was a record high. The expansion was achieved in both core and new export markets of Thailand
This has prompted the Ministry of Commerce to revise up its export expansion target for 2010 from 14 per cent to 19 per cent, with an expected export value of about US$183 billionâ€, Mrs Porntiva said.
The imports were up 37.9 per cent with a total value of US$15.72 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of US$2.32 billion, she added.
The export value in the first six months of the year totaled US$93.1 billion, an increase of 36.6 per cent from the same period last year. The imports were up 51.7 per cent with a total value of US$86.7 billion, making Thailand gain a trade surplus of US$6.4 billion, according to the minister.
