Digital camera Best Deal in Buriram.
« on: June 04, 2010, 06:08:28 PM »
Product review:
Product: Digital camera.
Budget: Up to 5000 Baht.
Place: Buriram city.

So, lately I've been searching for a new digital camera as my old canon wasn't working anymore.
change the lens of the canon would have been cost me around 2000 Baht and I did it in the past already and got a copy chinese lens worked for around 100 pictures until it didn't worked anymore.

so I search for a budget digital camera limit up to 5000 Baht. stop1

Note: a Lithium battery powered digital camera was a prior condition of the purchase as Lithium batteries are the most powerful batteries you can get and I wouldn't buy a digital camera powered by AA batteries as I have experience with my prior "Canon" camera and the batteries needed to be charged often.
Yes, they are cheaper and may look like a great value4money but believe me, don't be tempt to buy them, you'll regret on it in the future. spiral
Went to "Tuwikit" to check in the local "Power Buy" electric shop just to find the cameras on offer are out of my budget and model/price.

Went to Big-C yesterday and found a very good deal for a Sony camera 12.1MP , Lithium Battery powered.
3700 Baht only.
Almost bought it but the seller claimed this camera is in low price only because it comes with no Lithium battery and no memory card. Also the unit on offer is the one in the showroom.
all these elements made the deal from a very good one to a  nono nono

Checked the "Big Camera" ( http://www.bigcamera.co.th/ )shop in Big-C (Just opposite "Mk suki" restaurant) and found a big selection of cameras on good offer.

There I saw a good "Samsung" 10MP camera for just 4000 Baht which was perfect for me but the seller adviced "Panasonic F3 Lumix" digital cameras are more quality and better buy and showed me a "Panasonic F3 Lumix" camera which priced 5000 Baht but she claimed the battery last longer as well.

So I tested both of them, the first thing I noticed is the time of taking pictures one after the other.
The "Panasonic" camera was faster than the "Samsung" camera, also the time between On/OFF is faster in the "Panasonic" so I oppted on the "Panasonic" even though I had to add 1000 Baht more as it priced 5000 Baht.

After this search, on this level of budget (up to 5000 Baht) I can say its the best digital camera in Buriram.
Believe me, Admin check prices very well.  giggle

Interesting and useful info, as I'm currently in the market for a decent high quality digital camera. I've furthered my investigative research - because I'm a little vacant of knowledge regarding this product. Cheers. redman

Hi guys,

I spent 2 days with the camera and got to know its limits.
The camera is fine but have a serious disadvantage: The Flash is too weak.

I took some photos in a market with roof which made the area dark, with the Canon I had it will be bright picture because a very good flash the Canon have but with this one, almost none, I mean- the flash is working but not give the result needed.
My friend had the same problem with NIKON camera he had in the past, we both realized Canon is the right choice for a simple user like us, easy, fast, good pictures. What do we need more? confused4

I went back to the "Big Camera" shop to check it out and the only way to setup the camera to throw enough flash is to change the so called "picture scene" to be "night scene".  tired1

Not match for me to play with the menu every now and than. I need a strong quality camera I can take photos on AUTO mode with no much playing around with the menu.
Snap, shot, off/on.

With my prior experience with digital cameras. The Canon did the job on the best side.
Auto mode. good pictures almost every shot.

So I upgrade to a real camera: Canon IXUS 951S 10.0 MP.

Cost: 7000 Baht.

That's 2000 Baht extra for the upgrade, I didn't planned to spend this much of money on a camera but better a camera I can actually use on night time with no much hassle and probably better photos. stop1

For me, it seems logical to browse and shop around online to find what models and qualities are available. Make a couple of choices {optional}.....and order your camera online, or go to BKK the next time one has business there. The physical selection is far more to be expected than we can easily find elsewhere.

yes, but don't forget the prices you see on the net are in most cases not reflect the local Thai prices.
Also, in sensitive electronic device like digital camera with all the elements it come with, I prefer a personal touch and test in place.
If I need warranty I prefer to have someone to talk with, preferably in Buriram and not Bangkok or even other country.

canon and sony are the leader manufactured of this kind of pocket digital cameras.
on this budget! you made the right thing but  if you go little bit higher, lets say; 10,000 baht cameras and up ,different world of cameras.
hey you even have the SLR cameras but this double 2-3 times more expensive than yours.

When you buy a compact camera essentially, they are all the same. Don't get bogged down in pixels as it is really the sensor that determines the quality. That goes for flash as well. The flash built into a camera is linked to the aperture and the aperture of compact cameras is very limited! The most important thing is the sensor! The software is also essential and Canon has by far the best. All a compact does in simple terms is record light, you can then later the image on your PC/Laptop to suit; that's what manufacturers expect you to do!

If you're serious or just want to take better quality photo's that won't blur when enlarged then you have to go for an SLR!

All true but the compact digital cameras advantage over professional ones such as SLR and others is in its price and size.
A professional photographer will never go for a compact digital camera just for the reason you said but some just want to take pictures so I don't think there is a reason to invest in an expensive camera when you aren't really going to use its features.
I have Fuji FinePix F80EXR  model and I am quite happy with it.

Yes, true but many seek to improve their pictures if not photography but bear in mind that if your photo's don't turn out the way you like it's generally the limitations of the camera (unless you are a serious photographer). There is such a wide range of cameras available now that will suit the specific needs but all have limitations! Many people buy expensive cars but can't drive them properly!
