Relic bikes on show

Are antique bikes your thing?  bike038
If so, do not miss the opportunity to have an up close and personal look at some priceless, rare models at "2 Wheels Story" from Thursday to Sunday, May 16 at Seacon Sqaure.

The highlights include a 1937 Harley-Davidson ULH, a 1989 Harley-Davidson EL, a 1951 Ariel Square 4 OHV4 (the model that was used for patrol by Thai policemen) and other collectible bikes from all over the world.

Expect to see vintage BMWs, Triumphs, Nortons, Vespas, Lambettas, Hondas and Yamahas while enjoying classical music. The classic two wheelers will also be available for photo opportunities.

Call 02-721-8888 ext 312 - 4.

1937 Harley-Davidson ULH:

Is the date wrong on that Harley Davidson EL? I assume they are talking about Knuckleheads. I love Harley's. My first road bike was a 1976 HD sportster 1000cc with a big bore kit that put it close to 1200.I was 16 at the time. Learned more about fixing it then riding it but somehow I fell in love. I love all 2 wheel machines(bicycles included) Love to take them apart, love to put 'em back together again. I also have a real soft spot for British bikes. I had a Japanese domestic 1971 Honda CB450 DOHC, copy of a British cafe racer(light frame). Great city bike.
Sadly, I am not a wealthy man. I am looking for a bike right now. I'll probably go with a Steed or drag star, depending on the price(low and slow, but legal..), It's a real shame it's such a hassle to restore old bikes and get a green book here in Thailand. I would love to build a bike from scratch, so many great undocumented bikes and parts available here. Alas, I need to be legal. I couldn't live with the outcome if the cops nicked my bike for lack of legality.

I have a Steed and they are slow but still a good bike. Last time I spoke to Ron of Ice Furniture I think he was wanting to sell his Steed. It was quite a while ago but who knows??
I really like the look of SR400's too, but they are as rare as Rocking horse sh!t with a green book

Wow, I just got my internet back after being down for almost 5 days....
Yeah, a Steed. I'll probably go with that. I hear ya on the rocking horse sh*t, easier to find then a SR with a legal book. I wish I was wedged up enough to afford a 600 steed, but the 400 will do the trick(with mods of course) :)

This thread has gotten me thinking.  A while back I recall seeing a Norton for sale around the corner from the bus station. I haven't been back around that way for a few weeks.  Does anyone have an idea of how much they were asking for it or ideas about the bikes history?  It sure seems like something that that, at least at some point, was farang owned.

Ron of Ice has a 400 Dragstar very nice bike, IMO much mor comfortable than a steed. Lots of nice bikes out there, it all depends on your wallet.

Yeah, I like the Dragstar. I like Yamaha better then most other brands(After Harley Davidson). Most Dragstars seem higher priced in the last few months I have been looking. Most but not all. I may get lucky. I am a Yamaha XS650 freak. I have been aching to build one from the ground up. Alas, the whole green book issue, which I have learned a lot about is stopping me from doing it before I get a legal bike. After the legal one, I may just build a local "bar hopper" hard tailed XS650 and take my chances with the law(If I have the dosh to do it). With two Cops in the extended family saying it's not that big of a problem locally...(LOL...famous last words, as my bike gets nicked and ransomed back to me for a whole lot of $$...) :)
