Hi Bums

Whist in Oz for the GP I became aquainted with the phrase "Budgie Smugglers" would any antipodean members care to expand on the subject for the benefit of other members? hahaha

Wonder if they are related to 'Rock Spiders' (another Oz phrase)

Hi Dave,
Budgie Smugglers are swimming briefs (very brief) for men, usually made by Speedo. When worn they look as though the owner is attempting to smuggle a Budgerigar (bird). They size of the bird can vary :) LOL

The term Rock Spider is used to describe a peodaphile. Usually one who is in prison. To use another Australianism these disgusting individuals usually end up with a "face like a bag full of chisels".
Don't hesitate to ask if you need anything elese clearing up :)

Hi TBWG,
I am very happy to help with "strine" interpretations  smilenod

I am a newbie and will get around the site as soon as I can. My GF is from Buriram and she and I will be visiting in September. I hope to catch up with BE members while I am in town. I have found the BE site extremely interesting and helpful.

Regards,
John

Think you will find there are a few Aussies lurking in Buriram, although I have to say they are dubious characters! Perhaps coffee connection a good place to start. gmorning

Although come to think of it Rocky the owner  bike038 is an aussie from Oldham! confused4

It's all a bit slow here in the thriving metropolis know to the locals as Amphur Ban Dan (or by PINK FLOYD as the "Dark Side of the Moon"), so after lurking here since 21 November 2008 (I have actually lived here longer than that, but that is my BE login date) I thought I should make my first post.  Those who know  me will realise that normally I have very little to say :-)

Aussie Classic

Major General Peter Cosgrove is a Pure Australian treasure!'

General Cosgrove was interviewed on the radio recently.

Read his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and
children. Regardless of how you feel about gun laws you gotta love
this!

This is one of the best comeback lines of all time.. It is a portion
of an ABC radio interview between a female broadcaster and General
Cosgrove who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his
military Headquarters.

 FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young
boys when they visit your base?

 GENERAL COSGROVE:
We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
 Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

 GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

 FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be
teaching children?

 GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline
before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
But you're equipping them to become violent killers..

 GENERAL COSGROVE:
Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The radio cast went silent for 46 seconds and when it returned, the
interview was over.
