Sunee Tower to launchKaona Treasure Corporation, the developer of Sunee Tower complex in Ubon Ratchathani, expects its all-in-one project will become a new landmark in the northeastern province by this year.
The 100,000-square metre Sunee Tower complex in Ubon Ratchathani is set to launch on Feb 25, following an investment of 1.4 billion baht by Kaona Treasure Corporation.
Managing director Sutud Triyangkulsri said the 1.4-billion-baht complex was fully developed, covered 100,000 square metres and would launch on Feb 25.
It comprises the 219-room Sunee Grand Hotel, a meeting and exhibition hall, a department store, a supermarket, an IT plaza, a health and spa centre, a knowledge centre and an entertainment centre (with bowling, a cinema, karaoke and a water park).
"We had the soft launch a year ago and got a good response from customers. During weekdays, the daily average of shoppers is 3,000 to 4,000, but it is almost 10,000 on weekends," he said.
The company expects shoppers and hotel guests will increase this year.
Ubon Ratchathani, said Mr Sutud, lacks good facilities and commercial sites for tourists and civil servants to have meetings and seminars. Sunee Tower hopes to draw five to six big exhibitions to its meeting hall this year, which can accommodate up to 3,000 guests.
The hotel's occupancy rate last year was 50%, with 90% of the guests Thai. This year, it expects occupancy will rise to 70% with an average room rate of 1,500 baht.
"The traffic at our stores and guests at the hotel reflect that the local economy in our province and nearby is getting better," said Mr Sutud.
Kaona Treasure, a subsidiary of the chicken farm operator Kaona Poultry, expects the 15-rai project will need more than 10 years to break even. The company bought the Phyathai Ubon Ratchathani Hospital a few years ago and turned it into a multi-purpose complex.
