THAI strengthens ties with Star Alliance

Thai Airways International President Piyasvasti Amranand today met with Star Alliance CEO Jaan Albrecht in Bangkok to discuss future strategies and cooperation under the Alliance.

"I am determined to extract as much competitive advantage from our membership in Star Alliance as possible. THAI must use the obvious advantages Star Alliance offers, such as the largest connected network in the world, the cost saving opportunities it offers, the access to technologies and value added benefits, such as frequent flyer mile earnings and redemptions across all 26 carriers," said Piyasvasti.

After the meeting, Albrecht said THAI has shown a constant and continual commitment to Star Alliance throughout since its founding in 1997.

"We are ready to assist THAI in developing new strategies, which will enhance the airline's competitiveness and support its active role in Star Alliance."

Wow...I am sure they will have to be competive...They are 1 of the most expensive Airlines to fly with....I work for a Airline in Canada that was with One World then went to Star Alliance...being a early retiree with them and have passes with other airlines Thai Airways will have to something to compete.

Example BKK to YVR: Flight leaves 08:00 to HKG arrive HKG at 12:00 HKG time... leaves HKG at 12:45 not enough time to transfer...they are always late.

Not sure what the meaning of Alliance is but you maybe fly my passenger and we fly yours...the cost saving thing...if my passengers can't make the flight and have to stay in a hotel at there expense....not good for my Airline...

Thai's on time perforance is not good...service not rated very good either...so they have to something soon to stay in the Star Alliance.

This only my opinion....

THAI has limped along like a lame duck for many years,,,,,It should be allowed to follow in the footsteps of JAL.
