"Going back to the deal you had in the land office you handed over money and you do not have the land in your name or company or wife who's name did you put it in ? Please tell we are all waiting to hear ! you a very gennerous CAN YOU BUY SOME FOR MY DOG not more than 1/2 rai and not more than 10 kilometers by road, because my dog gets tired."

3100034...sorry I didnt make my original post clear. The house I live in is owned by my wife. Partly paid for by ME, partly paid for by HER. The title is in HER name. I am satisfied with this set up. No further documents required at the Land Office in regards to a Farang being involved.

However, my wife has had a few recent health problems and is concerned (more concerned than I am) about my future if she is not around. She has recently spoken to a solicitor in Buriram about a unferstruct (sp) being activated by her will be executed. I have NO idea how this works (and dont really care) but I beleive it will entitle me to stay in the house for a further 30 years (more than enough time for me I think ;)) It will then pass on to our daughter ?????

So we have a Title for the property in my wifes name. What did you end up with. A chanotte /unferstruct / company documentation?

I am starting to get intrested in this side of the home / house / land legalities here. So any further information you have would be greatly appreciated love5

Sorry to hear your dog gets tired easily. Easy fix is NOT to keep her up all night party13

I have had a ta-bien baan for a few years now ( mine cost me 1000 baht ) .I have heard of others being charged 500 baht. At the weekend I saw an old friend of mine ( Tommynew ) and he is the proud owner of a new Yellow House book...cost 80 baht.He told me the first time he went to the Amphur Office they didn't have a clue so he told his partner to sort it out on her own as he couldn't be bothered. So it seems by not getting involved to much is the best option and just leave it to your partner to sort out.
Is there a set of rules ( like for a driving Licences ) anywhere to help others in their bid to obtain a Yellow House book as everybody I have spoken to has been asked for different things, even a Thai translation of your British passport

I have heard recently of a few instances when the Transport Office(Surin) will NOT accept a yellow book now for vehicle re-registration!

As that and a D/L renewal is about the only time most need to have a residence letter, if this is the case with the Transport Office, I see no point in bothering with a yellow book anymore but to be fair, I am not 100% sure.

Yellow house book is always good and I have used it several times in different situations. It simplifies things but even if a foreigner don't have one it shouldn't be a problem issuing a residence letter from the embassy or even sometimes just need to fill the address in Thailand (In certain cases)....... sawadi

IMHO it's like everything else....i.e. it depends on the office and indeed the individual that you deal with at that office as to what is acceptable and what is not....

Very true mxyzptlk......that is why I asked if there was a definitive list( like for a Visa or Driving Licence )  of things that members need to have to obtain one ,so far I haven't found one  loco

One of the reasons I have a yellow has book is when I went to renew my driving licence at Rattana Buri  ( my local office ) the Big Boss said he wouldn't give me a licence unless I had one. When I told him politely that other places had never asked for one he said " go to them to get your licence then " ...Maybe he was just having a bad day.
I went to my local Amphur office in Sanom ,paid 500baht for someone to get a new blank yellow house book from Surin and went the next day with the Headman of the village and the local BiB.After I was given my Tabien Ban ( the fist one they had ever done ) the Officer at the Amphur then asked me for 2 photos for my Thai ID card. Its was only when my wife said I was a farang and that she thought I could have one that they realized their mistake .
BTW ..I got my 5 year driving license the next day.
