Melbourne, Australian 2010 F1 GP info needed
« on: September 09, 2009, 11:33:26 PM »
Hi Bums

Any Oz  forum members from Melbourne out there?

Can anyone advise how far Flinders Lane is from the Albert Park Circuit?

Anyone have any recommendations of small guest houses rather than hotel chains? Only being a Nobby Nomates and traveling on my own I am pi**ed off paying steep single supplements!

Any other info you think might be of assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well I'm from Melbourne, and Flinders lane is about 5 kms from Albert Park (circuit), you could walk it, but you probably wouldn't.

Forget taxis, around Grand Prix time things get crazy, depends where on Flinders lane you are staying, but the trams are your go.  There are plenty that leave the city and head to, or close to Albert Park.  South Melbourne Tram, St Kilda Tram or St Kilda Road Trams.

http://www.wotif.com/ is a pretty good website for Accommodation, it has a map feature that can show you how close the hotels/apartments are to Albert Park.  The circuit is around the lake.

Have fun, take ear plugs!

Matt
