I think one of the main problems is that urleft and a few others do not fully understand British humour (more difficult to understand in the written form, as it sometimes comes across as a personal attack). Our humour is based on sarcasm and the art if "winding up", Nookie being very good at this.

Calling an American a septic is not derogatory it is actually a term if endearment if anything. It comes as I am sure you know from rhyming slang. Septic Tank - Yank! That's it. You would probably prefer it to be changed to Sherman, but we would have to go into a time machine and get the cockneys to come up with it back in the 40's.
Now you may not like it, but that is you taking it as a personal attack which it is not.

Most of the things I post are always tongue in cheek, but seem to be taken the wrong way.

Let's all get on. If not, the next thing we know if this continues, is the leader of the free world will be saying that some white supremacists wearing swasticas and Nazi paraphernalia are decent people!!

Again it is misunderstood. Not all Brits use terms like this as derogatory.

If I met Nookie again, I would likely greet him with "Alright Nookie you fat bastard". Does that mean I am questioning his parenthood, No, obviously not.

But if urleft, posted a link to a dictionary it would seem that I am not being nice.

Do you see? It is purely a matter of intent and humour. Which urleft seems to be lacking any sense of.

Agreed Adam. Also, if you check the link it is only one person's opinion.

Sadly some people cannot accept anything a true unless there is a link.

I was told I have my head up my arse when I posted that it is illegal to drive a car with headlights on during the day, just because I could not provide a link.
