We are still in the uk but will be retiring to the lam ,so just getting up to speed

Has thing changed regarding working laws for non Thai husbands, or are we still excluded from earning a living?

I am an electrician / builder,, retired a little bit

You are in an excluded trade. Whether you have a problem or not depends on whether you have a jealous neighbour/competition. The village headman came round last week and jokingly asked when I was going to finish the extension I had started in September.

No, you are NOT excluded from earning a living here in Thailand.

Its just the type of work that you do must fall within the guidelines.

With the exception of some very limited part time work, you would probably NOT get a work permit if you are on a Retirement extension (once you settle here)

in principal, if you are taking work away from a Thai, you can't work. Keith sounds like he isn't looking for a job any way, so setting up a business legally would be difficult.

Was just checking if things have moved on ,  if I need to earn some pin money.

I don’t understand haw the Thaïs get away with it, considering all the free trade world agreements they enjoy with out restrictions.

I keep telling  people back home that think there will be a trade revolution with china ,,to forget it ,,Asians don’t play by our rules.
