Only 33 dead ,322 injured on Thursday

I've just seen a minibus being towed along the 24,if anyone got out of it alive I'd be very surprised

So the final total of deaths is 365 thats an increase of 8.63% over last years total of 336.....with drunk driving the main culprit!!

A total of 365 people were killed and 3,329 injured in 3,176 road accidents throughout the country over the “seven dangerous days” (Dec 27-Jan 2), Panadda Diskul, deputy permanent secretary for interior, said on Thursday.
 
The road death toll was reported on Wednesday at 332 for the first six days.
 
Anusorn Kaewkangwan, deputy director general of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, said the number of road accidents was up 2.68% on the same period last year.
 
The road death toll also rose from last year’s 336 deaths by 8.63%, or 29 deaths, but the number of road accident injuries was down 1.3%, he added.

I wonder what the penalties will be for those that caused accidents and did not die. We read that 32% of accidents involved drunk driving.

I would hope that custodial sentences are meted out to the 32% minus those that died + a minimum 5 year ban on driving.

Of course that is wishful thinking. There will be minimal fines, and no doubt those having to pay will have done it many times before!

It was announced today that 'Imprisonment for Life' in UK, in some cases mean as long as 9 years inside! FFS!!!!!!

The "little lady" braved Highway 24 yesterday, to take a couple of siblings from Paisarn to Prakhon Chai, for a bus back to Bangkok.

A 17km drive, that she said took nearly 2 hours!  (I've been in that NY romp, and it's totally insane)

After escaping harm from the main exodus traffic, she was smashed in the back of her "Vios" by a driver in Prakhon Chai who "didn't see her".  He wasn't drunk and admitted culpability to both the cops and the insurance guys.

Car is off to Nang Rong for repairs...approximately 1 week.

Just thankful that no one was injured.

It would be at least one more but was able to successfully avoid the hitting scooter that passed me on the right as I was turning right with my Ranger Truck.
