Creosote?
« on: November 08, 2012, 09:21:30 PM »
After the termites polished off my yard broom brought at great inconvenience from the UK, I soaked another one in creosote before again bringing to Thailand.
It has remained insect free now for several years!

However, they have now chomped on the wooden handle of my spade also brought at great inconvenience from the UK.  hungry1 So before they tuck into any further tools I would like to give them the creosote treatment.

Any ideas if it is available anywhere in Buriram? I am told that I can smother wooden handles in used car oil which has a similar effect. But last time I did this I ended up smelling like a Thai village garage every time I used it.

You could try the Dulux shop in the day market. Its on the right just after the lights coming from Paddy's. The owner is very helpfull and speaks good English. Hope this helps.
Thanks David, a yard brush to be added to my list now. Might just force it into an ever bulging suitcase that is already full of motorbike stuff. And yes I did buy the biggest mother of a suitcase I could find on ebay already. Nothing to declare whistle

There is a termite treatment called Chaindrite. Available in the shop that Alan mentioned. Also available in Thai wasadu. It is very good. The outside, upstairs of my house is treated with it.

I think it is about 500baht for 5 litres.

Thanks for the info guys!

But a word of warning to Alan  ~~~ I bought a great big suitcase only to find it would not fit in a BKK taxi boot!

Spent 6 hours cuddling it in the back seat of the taxi all the way to Satuk! smilenod

I had a similar issue with an extra large suitcase fitting into a taxi.  Solved it by sliding the front passenger seat to the rear, and strapping it in there.
