Pattaya, 15th February 2011 [PDN] : At approximately 05.30 pm of Tuesday, Pol. Col. Nanthawut Suwanlaorng (Pattaya Police Superintendent) and his investigation team cooperating with the police officers from Chon Buri Transnational Suppression Unit announced the arrest of two foreign ATM fraudsters, Mr. Ali Ennouri (28) and Mr. Alexandre Giro Zinno (29) both of French nationality. The evidence discovered included an ATM and credit card copy machine called a “skimmerâ€, a notebook recording several of the victims passwords, two of ATM and credit cards, and 100,000 baht cash.
The superintendent revealed that the police had been informed by Thai Commercial Bank, reporting that customers’ had been relieved of money up to a million baht, taken from their accounts by the foreign gang. The method used was to copy the victim’electronic cards.Subsequently, the police received information from the bank officer (working in a Thai Commercial bank exchange box in South Pattaya) noticing a group of suspicious foreigners who were using the ATM there. The police team were then dispatched to inspect at the scene apprehending the suspects, finding several items of evidence that were in a belt bag.

Two French ATM Skimming suspects caught by Pattaya PolicePattaya One News
16th February 2011Two French Nationals, accused of a multi-million Baht ATM skimming operation based in Pattaya have been arrested by Pattaya Police. On Tuesday Afternoon at Pattaya Police Station, Police Colonel Nantawoot, the Pattaya Police Chief announced the arrest of Mr. Ali Ennouri aged 28 and Mr. Alexandrie Giro Zinno aged 29, both French passport holders. They were arrested outside a Siam Commercial Bank Booth in South Pattaya after staff became suspicious of the two men who appeared to be assisting mostly elderly foreigner with their ATM transactions. The men were caught with ATM skimming equipment, including a blank credit card, laptop computer and 100,000 Baht in cash, along with a small book containing credit card numbers and pin numbers of almost 20 foreigners, all of them were found to be elderly and therefore vulnerable to such a scam. Security Camera footage of the two suspects in action was shown during the press conference where Mr. Ennouri appeared to lean over an elderly gentleman who was using the Siam Commercial Bank ATM. He was holding a device in his hand which is believed to have recorded the credit card details. This device was then handed back to his accomplice, Mr. Zinno. At the same time, Mr. Ennouri appeared to be recording the pin number as entered by the victim. The two suspects are thought to be part of a larger gang who are now being sought by Police.
