Bangkok Post: Online news: Auto Scoop THE SPECS: Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) has finally launched the facelifted S-class which gets tweaked exterior cues and an all-new split-view monitor inside for the driver and front passenger to view different things at the same time. The engine range remains the same, although the S320L CDI diesel is now badged S350L CDI. Prices are B7.799m for S300L (219hp 3.0-litre V6), B7.999m for S350L CDI (211hp 3.0-litre V6) and B10.999m for S500L (388hp 5.5-litre V8).
We think:The diesel-powered S350L CDI makes most sense of the three S-classes, especially with that grunty 540Nm engine. New gimmicks should help maintain the car's leading status in its segment.
Or try this: Also built in Thailand like the Merc, the B7.599m BMW 730Ld coming with a 219hp 3.0-litre inline-six and six-speed automatic. Against the S500L, look at the Lexus's imported LS460L equipped with 388hp 4.6-litre V8 and eight-speed auto costing B10.79m.
