is there a good supplier of planks, board, studs , timber (or whatever you call it from your homeland) wood etc. in the area please?   In some places you would think they are selling gold plated products.  Thanks very much

Wood is expensive here however if you have visited the big place just before Robinsons ( also sell doors) they are ridiculous. Wanted price for 3.5m 6x6 and quoted 4,300. Got in Lam Plait Mat for 2,600.
There are a couple of decentish timber yards in Lam Plait Mat. From all places though, check every piece when delivered, they try to slip crap into the order.

Thanks for your comments.  I am in Ban Mai Chaiyaphot about 80 km north of Buriram.  I have a pickup and would go to collect if it was a good supplier.  I was a carpenter b4 and find the cost of wood surprising and lots that is only fit to burn.  Thanks again

High quality planed finished timber is hard to find here as there isn't much demand. There are decent suppliers in Bangkok and in the North. Proves are cheaper and quality is better. Local stuff is suitable for outdoor work but I wouldn't use it inside.

The woodworking district in Bangkok has some very good lumber imported from Europe and USA. There are a few shops on the same small road. They used to be shops where the hand carved items were made but now it is all retail shops. One shop I kept a card from has a website. Thaitimber.com

Thanks D David,  Looks good and will explore a bit more later.  On a different subject, the land drain company does not appear to be a cheap and cheerful DIY kind of place.  They are nice enough but I think that they are looking for big projects.  Thanks anyway.  Kind regards
