PATTAYA: An American woman went on a demolition derby in Pattaya on Sunday afternoon wrecking 13 vehicles, injuring two and to top it all off, had her tyres shot out by police to bring an end to her rampage.
The 29-year-old driver, identified only as “Miss Amanda”, began her day of destruction at Soi Siam Country Club in East Pattaya where the blonde fled the scene of a crash she was involved in with another car. Eyewitnesses say she sped off towards North Pattaya.
Police were informed the white Toyota Innova she was driving had been spotted going into oncoming traffic on Sukhumvit Road heading back towards South Pattaya and gave chase.
For around 30 minutes she was pursued by police damaging a total of 13 vehicles and injuring two motorbike riders including a 22-year-old woman who sustained a leg injury that required hospital treatment.
Eventually the Toyota and its driver were stopped when police were forced to open fire on her tyres to bring the vehicle to a halt. Once stopped she refused to get out the car leaving police with no choice but to smash the front passenger window to arrest her.
She was bundled into a pickup and taken to Pattaya Police Station in handcuffs. On arrival she sat crying and refusing to answer any questions. Outside the station a crowd of angry onlookers and victims gathered. Some shouted abuse at her and several attempted to assault her.
It was reported her punishment was “a hefty traffic fine” and ordered to pay for all damages caused plus medical expenses for the two injured bikers.
She later apologised her actions and claimed she panicked which is why she refused to stop for police.
