Hello-

If I need to extend my tourist visa, what is the best way to do it from Buriram if I have no car?  Am I best off just going all the way to Bangkok on Nakhorn Chai Air?  If I did that, I would just turn around and come back, since I need to get home right away.  Or is there doable public transportation to a regional immigration office?  Can a regional immigration office even do a tourist visa extension?  I'm referring to extending for 30 additional days on top of the 60 day visa.

Also, how early or how late is one allowed to apply for the tourist visa extension?

Thank you for any info or experiences about this.

-Mitch

Take the local Buriram/Surin bus from the Buriram bus station to the Surin bus station. Bus is orange, takes about 1 hour and is 40 baht. At the Surin bus station in the north east corner you should see white vans 9-12 seater that say Surin / Chong Chom. These vans leave about ever 20 and travel all the way to the Chong Chom Border Crossing. You want to get of in Kap Choeng at the Kap Chong Imigration Office on highway 214, tell the driver. Cost will be about 40 baht for the trip. KCI is about 60 km from the Surin bus station. KCI will be on the right hand side across the road as your heading towards the border. A large 2 meter by 1 meter sign that say KCI on the high way at the entrance of the driveway. KCI is 100 meters up the drive way. Kap Choeng Immigration is the immigration office for Buriram an Surin. They open at 08:30 am Monday threw Friday, closed on weekends. They will be closed Tues. May 13 as all government, banks and schools. This is the number one Buddha day for Thailand. Other people have mad this trip from Buriram as I have laid out to you,it is doable. Make sure you have two passport photos and 1900 baht. The wife and I have M&D Coffee on the highway 600 meters east of KCI. If you gotlost or need info or a break give me a call at 0861867267 and I can give you a hand.

Hey thanks, Gotlost!  That's good news.  Sounds easier than all the way to Bangkok and right back again.

Is it hard to get the van to stop on the return trip home?

Ok!  :- )

Hi Somnat-  Thank you!  It isn't definite yet that I'll need to extend, so I don't have the date yet, but when I do I'll give another shout out.
