Energy Drinks in Thailand

For a rather long time, you've been able to buy small bottles (normally 100-150 ml) in Thailand, with a refreshing sweet mix of water, sugars, caffeine, taurine or/and argenine, sugar, and vitamins etc. They have for a long time been especially popular among the Bangkok's tuk-tuk and bus drivers. It has also become rather popular to mix the energy drinks with alcohol like Mekong (rice whisky), Sang Som (Thai rum), Regency (Brandy) or Vodka. (We do not have the expertise whether this might be a potential health risk or not). The most sold energy drinks are today:

Krating Daeng or Red Bull
Available in two different bottles and in a can and originally from Thailand. An almost "legendary" energy drink with the almost as legendary towels logotype. Dietrich Mateschitz from Austria and Chaleo Yoovidhya from Thailand has both become billionaires from their "invention" and from the Austrian Red Bull.

Lipovitan-D or Lipo
Comes in a brown bottle with an blue-white label. Originally from Japan, but has been sold in Thailand for many years and can also be considered as a "classic" energy drink. Licensed by Taisho Pharmaceutical Co.

M 150
Comes in a brown bottle with a yellow-red label. Has been market intensively on TV and in other media, with help from the famous artist Sek Loso. M 150 has become one of the most popular energy drinks in Thailand last years.

Carabao Daeng
A relatively new energy drink, promoted with the very popular band Carabao. There band logotype is found on the bottle as well.

When you deduct the cost of the bottle, packaging etc, and the markups of manufacturer, wholesaler, and retailer, what do you think you're going to get for 10-12 baht?  Not very much!

Before you came on the scene, Jetmickey, there was a suggestion that the Forum should have a Thankyou button for each post;  Admin rejected it with a sneer.
