Why does beer make me sleepy?

Why does beer make me sleepy? 
Whenever I drink a beer, I get so sleepy. Is it the hops? It can't be the just alcohol - wine and whisky don't make me sleepy like beer.

Has anyone else noticed this effect? Are there any styles or brands of beer that make you less sleepy than others?

I'm not an
Even a can of chang/leo or whatever beer it may be, I get sleepy feeling, lets say that if I drink beer its almost straight away to bed for a nap.
With whisky or wine it never happen to me.

I would be more than a little concerned if that was happening to me...........A visit to the local hospital for a 'check up' should be a priority as that isn't normal

Any drink could have that effect. How do you respond to wine or scotch or boubon? It could be psychological. (My father could not go to sleep unless a newly opened bottle of Jack Daniels was empty.) With different people the intensity of the effect will vary. Age will also have an impact - yours and the beer's. But a medical check up is still a good idea.

I don't think its a health problem as you suggest, its like I'm falling asleep after 1 can of Beer, but feel sleepy more than if I would have drank wine or whisky or whatever other alcohol drink.
This is just showing the problem is in the beer and what it makes to my body.
I decided to stop with beer for this only reason, I usually don't want to get a sleep after a drink or 2.. (not more, I don't like drinking heavy).
of course, eventually any alcohol you'll drink will make you sleepy, but with beer I find it to happen faster and almost immediate.

Do you want to tell me you not feel the same?

I certainly don't feel sleepy after a can of beer,like I said before I don't think that is normal.It doesn't cost a lot to put your mind at rest.

Because you drink it.

Used any other way, it seldom has that effect.
