Amazing I-San Fair is on in Bangkok

Amazing I-SanThe Northeast region of Thailand boasts a rich diversity of art, culture, tradition, food, craftsmanship, music, dances and festivals.
These qualities are highlighted at the Amazing I-San Fair 2011 in progress until Sunday, Jan 30 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, Bangkok.Activities at the Amazing I-san Fair.The fair has seven zones: Charm of the Mekong River, Destination of Natural Ozone, The Guiding Light of Buddhism, South I-san Civilization, Magnificent World Heritage and Ancient Civilizations, Impressive Dinosaur Skeletons and Footprints, and I-san Boutique.
Skilled artisans showcase folk wisdom through sketching, drawing, painting and weaving of native designs, patterns and motifs on fabrics, pottery, silver and other materials. The scope is wide, ranging from pottery from Ban Chiang to cotton weaving, basketry, painting on phi ta khon ghost masks and musical instruments.
Admission is free and the fair is open 10am-8pm.
