Suvarnabhumi Airport Car Park Re-Opened with New Smart Card System
Permanent-Secretary of the Transport Ministry, Supoj Saplom, who is also the president of the Airports of Thailand, or AOT, announced after having inspected the newly installed smart card system that the Suvarnabhumi Airport's car park was to be reopened today at 8 AM.
Supoj also said that after having received the Suvarnabhumi Airport transportation report, the operators of the taxi services have filed a complaint, demanding the AOT deal with unauthorized taxis at the airport. The AOT president said that the issue will be discussed immediately by the committee overseeing the use of the airport's space and transportation systems.
Meanwhile, Supoj also insisted that the airport's car park will be reopened today at 8 A.M. and will be using the newly integrated smart card system.
Prior to this, the concession granted to Parking Management to run the car park had been revoked since October 11 of this year. The AOT claims that the concession was revoked because the company had violated the terms of the contract and was experiencing internal disputes within the company that could affect the car park service.
There was also another report that a member of the AOT Executive Board, Serirat Prasutanont, is planning to demand the Transport Ministry review the car park concession granted to the Parking Management.
