Bangkok to hold grand Loy Krathong festival Oct 31-Nov 2

Bangkok to hold grand Loy Krathong festival between October 31st and November 2nd


BANGKOK, 30 OCTOBER 2009 (NNT)-The Tourism Authority of Thailand and Bangkok have joined hands to organize the "Colors of the Water, Loy Krathong Festival 2009" between October 31st and November 2nd.

"Colors of the Water, Loy Krathong Festival 2009" will take place at Rama 8 Royal Park under Rama 8 bridge in Bang Plad district. During the event, a procession of 9 light decorated boats will travel from the Bangkok bridge past Krung Thon bridge for spectators and dock at Rama 8 bridge for audiences . An exhibition of celebrations from all 5 regions of the nation will also be on hand with demonstrations of natural and recyclable krathong making, an outdoor film projection, amusement rides, sales of products from all 50 Bangkok districts, and performances by leading artists. A krathong competition will also be held alongside Bangkok’s Loy Krathong beauty pageant with contestants from all 50 districts of the capital.

Bangkok TAT Office Director Yianyong Chairat has invited all residents and visitors of Bangkok to join in merriment during the "Colors of the Water, Loy Krathong Festival 2009" noting that this year's beauty pageant will likely be a highlight on top of the boat procession. Ms. Yianyong noted that extra effort has been put into preserving the unique tradition of Loy Krathong, especially in the capital where its promotion will most widely be seen.

Suvarnabhumi Airport featuring Loy Krathong decorations for travelers

BANGKOK, 30 OCTOBER 2009 (NNT)-The Tourism authority of Thailand along with Suvarnabhumi International Airport have pooled their efforts to celebrate the Loy Krathong Festival under the Amazing Thailand, Amazing Value campaign

TAT Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing, Wansadet Thavornsuk and President of the Airports of Thailand (AOT), Serirut Prasutanont recently chaired a press conference the international airports activities for the Thai holiday. The conference was held at gate 5 on the fourth floor of the departure hall right at Suvarnabhumi Internal Airport.

The Loy Krathong celebrations at Suvarnabhumi airport consist of an exhibition about the festival to give information and raise interest amongst travelers both incoming and outgoing from Thailand. One of the main hopes of the activity will be for foreign travelers to relay the information they receive friends and family upon returning to their homeland.
