Met a man
« on: June 14, 2019, 04:16:56 PM »
I met a man the other day, sitting in a wheel chair, at St. Marys Hospital in Korat.  He was from Germany and was with his Thai wife.  He spoke little English and was deeply in distress.  He is dying of severe colon cancer and was aged, pale and skinny beyond his 65 years.  He started crying not because of his cancer but because his only son who also lives in Thailand refuses to talk or to see him.  Those of us who have lost contact with their loved ones should try to mend the bridge as time is ticking away for all of us. To die alone, because of pride or other reasons is sad beyond belief. It was a real wakeup call for me.
Regards

Burning bridges is not a good way to travel.

Fully concur.  I tried to get an expat years ago to make peace with his family, now he is rotting in the Buriram Hospital because the next of kin has not signed a release.
