DID YOU KNOW?
QUISLING Traitor or informer. Vidkun Quisling (1887-1945) held a few minor position s in the Norwegian government before setting up the Norwegian National Unity Party in 1933 and establishing links with Hitler. Three days before the German invasion of Norway (May 8, 1940), Quisling traveled to Berlin with the latest intelligence concerning Norwegian defenses and troop dispersal, after which he was set up as a puppet of the Nazi regime, backed up by the new Norwegian SS called the Hird. As he became increasingly drunk on power, Quisling's behavior embarrassed the German leaders and amused hisfellow countrymen i n equal measure. On October 24, 1945, Quisling was shot by his fellow Norwegians, after they had first passed legislation to allow for a death penalty. BENEDICT ARNOLD

UPDATE Long time no see , thought it was time to update , now have built a 400m2 house in Thailand , what an experience that was , so many things in the building trade , which i was part of in Australia , that are done different , but i must say i was very surprised at the speed it was done , the whole slab was poured in one hit they worked till dark, i used aerocrete blocks 40x20x15 cms for thermal , and had a colourbond roof with 25mm foam on the underside , quit cool inside , suspended ceiling , would have prefered something i could walk on , all steel beams supporting the roof , very impressed with the electrical side , every cable run in yellow pipe, which is not done in Australia, i bought over 6 safety switches , no hassle for the sparky did what i asked , my architect had not heard of a copper earth rod , found one at do home in Buriram , many tried to talk me out of having gutter installed , but i went ahead , put all the blue underground pipe in myself , was expensive to do and had trouble getting someone to do it .
I had ceramics tiles everywhere in the house and outside veranda's, all inside and outside had 2 coats of skimming powder, then undercoat and two top coats , every window had fly screens , one way coating , overall very happy , and the trades that came in from the builder , workman ship i have no complaint . i had a set price to build it , and i bought all the materials

Hello there! Searching for accommodation for Family of 2-3 adults and 2 kids during visit of Buriram on 24.5 - 06.6.2025. Car rent already in process thanks to Buriram Expats. Did check Booking.com and Agoda, on that site my wife did find some house for rent-" baan him" nickname (Like Ban Him) and I start to check property - do not have address to check - funny. Any suggestion are Welcome! Thank you people!
Do you want to be near town? Further out? It eould becworth looking at resorts. Most have good facilities, rooms get cleaned, bedding gets changed. Many have special rates for longer term stays. There's one at Ray Hotel. Sorry but can't remember the name. Something like Jintana. If you stay there you get free use of the hotel swimming pool.

Is there a reputable photo shop in Buriram that can take a decent passport photo for an application for an Australian passport. The PP office has become very strict about the quality of photos due to facial recognition and other high tech features on the new passport. The problem with most photo shops are they take the photo from too far away and then zoom in during processing which reduces the quality. I have told them many times in the past what is needed and they just nod and say they know and do it their way, I'm in Surin by the way.
The Fuji shop not far from Anuban Buriram is good. It's on Phitak Alley. Just up from the junction with Sunthon Thep Road.

Just to let people know you can park at the Chong Chom border, but not with the immigration police as before. You have to park on the opposite side of the road, where there's a parking compound; this looks to be a privately run, however I could be wrong. The cost of parking for a farang is 90 baht a day / night. Personally I'm not going to do this, because when there I had a gut feeling that on my return my truck might not be there.
