Do any of you wise fellows know if cutting down a bamboo patch with a chainsaw would damage the chainsaw blade. Certain woods blunt them rather quickly so any wisdom would be greatfully appreciated.

Not sure about blunting the chain Bart, but I imagine the Bamboo fibres could build up and jam it.

Green bamboo cuts very easily with a sharp machete. Problem with using a chainsaw is there is a strong possibility of kickback and injury when cutting a patch of it so I don?t recommend it.

...if using chainsaw, make sure you do not put too much force onto the saw... just let it work slowly by itself - or almost "hold it back" a little...

Cheers guys, I know all about kickbacks, nearly had a very nasty accident with one once back home. I will avoid using one and let some local have a hack with his machete. Better if he looses an appendage than me 555
Thanks
