Just a heads up.
Today we went from Krasang to Chong Chom and we passed through Prasat. The junction with the 24 has major roadworks going on and it took us well over 20-30 minutes to get across. So anyone going that way, make sure that you add extra time for travelling.

Last time I went down 214 to 24 the line of cars so long that I took the left onto 24 did a U turn and then back left onto 214 south. Basically did the same thing on the return.
However, they may be extending the median which would negate that option.

Went through it this past weekend. A major chines fire drill with weekend traffic and the mob from Ubon heading back to BK. They have made progress but look for another 2 months. If your heading for Kap Choeng or the Chong Chom you may consider going threw Ban Kruat then take the 224 back over to the 214., very good road. FWIW they are widening the 214 to 4 lanes from the intersection at Prasat down to the junction of the 214 and 224 that is about another 15 km of road work.

Nookie, I haven't been that way since August last year, so I didn't know, and I haven't seen a topic about it (to my recollection)

On the way back turn right and return via Prakhonchai.

That's a good idea, but my BIL (who drove us to the border) had to drop off his daughter at the school for the deaf (near Prasat) so he had to go back the same way. And next time we go that way the roadworks will be finished (I hope) biggrin
