Title: Ashes Series
Post by: Cynical Sailor on July 08, 2015, 05:21:51 PM
What's your prediction for the England vs Australia Ashes Test series? I think Aus 3-0 with 2 draws (due to unpredictable English weather).

The English lads seem to have got a good team spirit going..........I reckon Eng might just edge it 2-1

A good score on a slow wicket. Let's see what Oz do first. Cannot predict until both teams have batted bu, as
Nookie said a good team spirit going.

Looked promising for Aus with 3 early wickets. Joe Root is once again proving to be a fine batsman. They're certainly not capitulating like they did during the last series. Johnson doesn't seem as intimidating to them this time around.

Is there any rain forecast for Cardiff? It's the only thing that will save Australia (and my 3-0 prediction).

I think you're right. The Australian team, like most Australians (including me) underestimated the Poms. It'll be a well-deserved series win. The Aussies can go home with their tails between their legs and a have good think about their vulnerabilities.

Australia's loss in the Ashes series has claimed its first scalp. Michael Clarke will retire after the final test at The Oval. Having reached a score of 25 in only 6 of his last 30 innings I agree the time is right. Steve Smith is the natural successor and will be a very good captain for many years to come.

I happily give credit where it's due. The England bowlers have been outstanding in this series. The Australian batsmen on the other hand have been woeful. A good article in the link which rates their performance.
