With impending opening of Tops Supermarket at the Robinson Lifestyle Center in Buriram the expats and Thai citizens of Buriram Province now have a new option for imported food. Big C has done a remodel this past week to now offer Casino Brand imported food stuffs parallel to the Fresh Produce Section and cooking oil isle. There is also now a Mini Big C convenience store open at a service station on Highway 219 as you enter Buriram about two kl from the iMobile Stadium.

Big C has been stocking Casino brand foods especially French Cheeses for the last 4 years....They are cheaper in Big C than in Tops
-
Big C is about to lose a lot of farang customers and it serves them right for being lazy and not making an effort in providing more imported foods for foreigners.. I see so many foreigners in Bic C and in the Buriram area and they still don't provide for us.. All I can say is Hello Tops and Bye Bye Big C.. You should inform the manager about the Hundreds of foreigners who live here pichai and the poor selection they give us..

Big C will not lose out. Tops is too expensive and most expats that I know are going to give it a miss. Have been in Tops Surin and didn't see a westerner.
-
Expensive for you but not for others who can afford it..
-
Tops is for me the place where I can find things that no other place in Buriram or Surin has.
Tops has IMO more "Farang" stuff then Big C or even Makro (with Makro Buriram scoring way better then Makro Surin).
For me (as an ex Pattaya resident which are food wise a bit spoiled with Foodland and Friendship and others) I am really happy with Tops and suspect when Tops in the new Robinson I opens will be an even more frequent customer.

So you didn't bother to read my post?
Another point to note is that different branches of Tops stock different things. Just like a Makro in Pattaya is so different to than in Buriram so Tops will be too. As I mentioned, Tops in Surin is not a popular place for expats. Why?

As I mentioned, Tops in Surin is not a popular place for expats. Why?
For me there are 2 reasons
1- all the roadworks around that area
2- out of the way location
For me I have to have a need (For example visit PowerBuy) to go to Robinson Surin, but when I go I seldom leave Tops without spending a couple of Thousand THB, but when it opens in Buriram I will be for sure a more frequent visitor as I pass it when going to Big C or RuangsangThai

Hit the nail on the head with your reason No.1. The roads around there are atrocious and I cannot see it improving anytime soon.
Was in Tops today in Ubon, Central World and it was packed with 'westerners' spending shedloads. I do acknowledge that this is a much bigger store with a huge range of farang items.

I dont know, But every time I go to Tops in Surin its empty, so when I buy stuff like Aussie beef, they always say promotion, and I get it for half price, I just go there to buy Dill pickles, because apart from Korat I have not found it anywhere else, so yea come on Robinsons hurry and open.

I thought from the original post there was a casino in Buriram on highway 218, somewhere you can play roulette or Texas hold 'em.
-
Anybody have an inkling of when Robinsons will open? They seem to be into the last stages but I don't see any opening day(s) publicity. I presume that this will be another of those places, like Global House, where I just go once out of curiosity and after that maybe once a year.
-
I live 1 hour from Buriram and 1 hour from Surin, I do like Tops in Surin, but I only buy things there that I cannot find in Big C or Makro. Every time I go there I probably spend 2-3000 baht. It is expensive, but also better quality. Not the place to do the weekly shop mind.

Supposed to be opening on the 1st of August that's what it said on the Facebook page months ago..

The Buriram Casino on Highway 218 I was posting is the new Dry Food Staples and packaged goods including made in France Casino Mi-Forte Moutarde Mustard as a Big C exclusive. Not unique to Big C in Pattaya is the made in Holland Remia deDijon Moutarde Mustard. The made in Thailand Tops dishwashing soap dispenser is available at the Buriram Robinson Lifestyle Shopping Center when it opens. The Teka hot & cold kitchen sink mixer tap is made in Germany while the Teka stainless steel double bowl sink is widely available in Buriram. It has almost been a game of chance to gamble which Casino packaged goods would be in the refrigerated case of the Buriram Big C on Highway 218 for several years.

Today I visited a customer regarding water treatment for a restaurant in the Buriram Robinson Lifestyle Center. The construction supervisor and the restaurant manager both told me the "soft opening" of the new Robinson Lifestyle Shopping Center including the Tops Market the Starbucks Coffee House will be July 29, 2015. No shortage of workers installing store and restaurant fixtures in this Buriram retail center. Selected restaurants show a real commitment to water purification.
