There is to be a FunFair in Buriram. It is on the land between BigC and Makro.
It will take place from 23rd July to 3rd August.
Looks like it will be big. Looks good for a family day out.

We got there at 16.30 (advertised opening time 16.00) with an excited little girl that had been wearing her new frock all day for this.
'Too little people, we open later'. You have to love it, don't you? Quite a few families were wandering around like us. Anyway prices between 40 and 50 a ride, we will go again later. The kit looked very worn, apparently imported from Europe. I did notice that they took a week to get the big wheel up, this usually is done in a day. That doesn't inspire confidence.
I will report back later if I don't die.

It was OK I guess. A European funfair with Thai accent, that gave me something to think about.

Was the accent the lack of safety and maintenance? brick1

Visited tonight. Just 10 baht admission. Is really for the kids. There is nothing for adults. Was really beaut to see heaps of families with little kids having a ball. A nice variety of rides for kids of different ages. Small food & drink area with a couple of tables. Toilets onsite.
30mins will be long enough if you don't have kids. Maybe 1hr if you've got littlies.
Don't wear your Gucci shoes though. First drop of rain will turn the whole site into a bog hole. Take an umbrella, as there is no shelter if it does rain.
Parking is a bit chaotic. Big C looks to be the best bet.
All in all, a nice little diversion for an hour or so. Worth a visit.

I can't say anything about the safety aspect, I did check over the nuts and bolts on the big wheel, escape paths and emergency access seemed to be ok. What I meant was that the Thais were having fun like Thais, not like Europeans, many had obviously never seen anything like this before. In the car before us on the big wheel were a grim faced middle aged, plump, Thai couple that didn't look around or seem to be enjoying things at all. That's one of the things that I am trying to work out. Our 8 year old was happy when it finished, but was delighted to recognise Homepro, Thai Watsadu BigC, Makro ,our car, and my wife from the heights.
Also little kids going on rides without a care in the world that I think Farang kids would have problems with. We got there at 6 oçlock. One hour later queues were three times as long as when we arrived. As mentioned, Ok for an hour, we had free tickets but with one accompanied kid 400 Baht is easily spent.

The last day for this FunFair is now August 12th.
-
Interesting that the new date of August 12th is the date that the official immigration tightening of rules starts...
-
Looks like the fun is over after that date....

Also the queens birthday.
mxyzptlk, have you been to the Green Tree restaurant ?.................. I keep tripping over Mackems

I called in at The Green Tree Restaurant yesterday after a trip to the Buriram FC club shop.
Very friendly proprietor, I didn't sample the pies but the fish was good

Also the queens birthday.

The owner is George and you may well spot the Roker Park plaque on the wall.
His accent is also a give away.............

A mate & his wife visited the Fun Fair a couple of days ago, and got their 10 bahts worth by having the best laugh they've had in yonks.
The Big Wheel guy was spruiking ... "come & have a ride on the worlds biggest fun fair wheel ..."
hmmmm ... maybe a bit ambitious ? but I'm fairly certain it's the BIGGEST WHEEL in Buriram ? :D
