There will be a large candle festival in Buriram this Friday and Saturday. The festival is to celebrate the start of Buddhist lent.
The main places of the festival will be on Jira Road in front of Radjaphat Univeristy and at the new dome in Romburi Park.
Friday 11th July:
Location : In front of Radjaphat University.
17:30 The candles and trucks will be in a line being decorated for the big parade on Saturday.
18:30 A singing competition will take place.
21:00 A Thai dance show "Ligae" style will be there.
Saturday 12th July
Location: In front of Radjaphat University.
08:00 There will be an opening ceremony to start the day and the parade.
09:00 The candle parade will start. The route is Jira Road, Romburi Road, Niwat Road, Suntornthep Road and back to Jira Road.
Location: The dome in Romburi Park.
12:30 Prize giving ceremony for the singers and dancers from Friday show.
15:30 Announcements of the winners of the best candles in the parade.
This is a big parade and lots of fun. Try to go and look if you can.
Warning: If you don't want to go it will be a good idea to stay away from the town on Saturday. There will be traffic jams and many people.
