Don't forget ALL marriage extensions are approved in BKK

Try looking at these two websites     www.speedy-visa.com   and www.expressvisathai.com    The xpress visa company are very helpful and offer a reasonably priced service.   Yes you can do it yourself but I let the agent take the strain

If you go here:  http://www.buriramexpats.com/forum/index.php/topic,7614.msg47179.html#msg47179

The guy has a visa agent, you might PM him and ask about it.

What work do you actually save by using a visa agent ?

What is the cost of a visa agent for processing a marriage extension ?

One of my buds changed from a retirement visa to a marriage visa recently, it was a big hassle.  Took at least 2 trips to KCI and involved Korat agents coming to his home.

I plan on switching to a marriage visa, if I could pay $100 and make it happen, I would do it.  However, a visa agent in Bangkok tried to get me to use him for a retirement visa, he guarnteed it.  For a mere 70,000 baht he would make it happen.  Then next day I went to Korat and got the visa in 45 minutes for 1900 baht.

I changed from a retirement extension to a marriage extension and then after 2 marriage extensions, I changed back to a retirement extension. It's easy to do yourself. No agent needed, no tea money paid or asked for....just a few extra requirements and a little patience required

The village simpleton is heard from with his usual helpless information.

So Paul, you would not pay 100 quid to avoid multiple trips to KCI in a month’s time and having a team of immigration agents come to your village to investigate you?   Now that is totally stupid.

As I stated, a Brit here changed from a Retirement to a Marriage extension this past July/August.  He had to make at least 2 trips to KCI, one to submit the paperwork and the 2nd to get the extension stamp.  That was after a team of 4 immigration agents from Korat came to his home and questioned him and his neighbors.  I would like to avoid that hassle, and would gladly pay $100 considering it cheap.

Yes, you have to make 2 trips when applying for an extension based on marriage. The first trip is to supply 2 copies of the required documents. You must take your wife with you, who is interviewed by the immigration official. If your documents are in order, you are given an "under consideration" stamp and told to return in approx 30 days. The return date is stamped in your passport. During those 30 days, one copy of your documents is sent to BKK for approval. If your application is approved (unusual for it not to be) then your extension of stay will be stamped in your passport upon your return to immigration on the specified date. Nobody came to our house to interview us. My marriage extensions were both done at Korat

According to what I heard the Thai GVT is cracking down on Foreigners paying Thais to marry so they can work in Thailand so an immigration team coming the home is now the norm.

OK. I didn't know that. Out of interest, where did you hear that?

Applying for the extension in person accompanied by your wife is a requirement of the process and as such any circumvention of this process would not be legal IN MY OPINION.......

But TIT.

That being said I have every intension of personally doing all the paperwork and meeting the requirements.  Plus I can then post a "Marriage Extension for Dummies" thread.

Anyway, I doubt any visa agent would provide that service for $100, as I mentioned a Bangkok Agent offered to do the Retirement visa as a package deal for just over 70,000 baht.  I incredulously asked if he meant 7000 baht, nope, it was 70,000.

On another thread there was talk of guys having their 90 report done by others.  Wow, I would not trust that.  I look at the 90 day report as a minor inconvience.

Fortunately the Dollar is not on par with the Great British Pound.

$100 would indeed be cheap, compared to a hundred Quid!

I would still consider $168 cheap.

i was just looking for a quick and easy alternative to simplify matters and if this type of service was available (as it is for retirement ) i would be prepared to pay a similar fee
I also did get a visit from immigration at home on my first application but i believe it is just for your first application and after they are satisfied with your marriage they will leave you alone

Generally speaking, visa agents will only offer a service for extensions based on retirement. That is because they can be done in a day and do not require approval from Bangkok.
