100 enemy people on hunger strike at Quantanemo, 25 with tubes down their throats forcing food, keeping them alive.
China and Hong Kong asking the US to explain the NSA snooping, last G12 conference was snooped, according to Snowden.
Arming the rebels in Syria,, including groups, that have stated that they will kill Americans whenever they can.
I'll stop with just these three problems, there's many others equally as dire.
We'll find out what President Obama will do, my question is what course of action would right wing Americans suggest.

Well we can only live in hope.

Keith joining the darkside?
No, I'm a conservative.
But I will give you my analyses of these scandals:
1. The IRS scandal is probably the biggest. The Dems used IRS politicization as rationale for the Nixon Articles on impeachment. The IRS head was scheduled to visit the White House 157 times during this period, as opposed to 1 for the entire Bush years. Obama's campaign personnel have admitted to being in meeting at the WH with him, WTF are Obama's campaign (non GVT) doing meeting with him anyway? The IRS has apologized for inappropriately target conservative organizations, but stated it was not political. There is more news on this one to come.
2. Benghazi. We still do not know where Obama was during the Benghazie attack. A stand down order was given, but it still has not been revealed who gave it. This one is totally sad as it highlights the incompetence of the US leadership. Again, there is still more to come.
3. NSA surveillance. I am more amused by this than anything. The dems were going apeshit accusing Bush of trying to be dictator for allegedly doing this. But now, how does the left justify it when there guy is caught read headed?
4. Fast and Furious. This is where the US GVT sponsored sending AK-47s into Mexico with no tracking. Two have theses "walked" weapons were used to kill US Border Patrol agents. The administration has successfully stonewalled this investigation to date.
5. Obama's Birth Certificate, Draft registration, etc. Part of this is before the Alabama Supreme Court with Judge Roy Moore (10 Commandments Judge) presiding. The Circus continues.
And Obama's main response to all this is saying he never knew anything, it was Bush's fault, low level GVT employee initiated, or he will get to the bottom of it.
-
I am just clueless and running a corrupt administration.
So very very true.
-
And on Syria, Obama may be doing something right.
Get this wacko country destabilized so they have to put all their efforts into solving internal conflicts instead of exporting terror.
-
Urleft you made my point, when current problems are presented to the right instead of suggesting courses of action to, as in this case, response to the world on the NSA, feeding tubes in Quatanemo, and arming anti American groups in Syria, the right falls back to Obama's birth certificant, Bengazi, etc., showing that they have no solutions only constant negative comments.

You asked about courses of actions for the scandals, not what needs to be fixed. Here are several proposals:
1. Tort reform. Limit all lawsuits to 1 Million, or real loses. Loser pays court costs. Lawyers cannot make more than 5% of the award.
2. Eliminate the minimum wage.
3. Get rid of the EPA, Department of Education, and Department of Homeland Security. Go back to private Airport screeners eliminating the TSA.
4. Got to a flat tax eliminating all deductions.
5. Require a balanced budget. Get rid of baseline budgeting (this is where GVTagencies budgets automatically increase 7% every year).
6. Revoke the 17th amendment on the election of US Senators.
7. Make congress abide by all laws they pass (e.g., Social Security, Obamacare, etc.)
8. Privatize Social Security, it is currently a ponzie scheme.
9. Revise immigration, get rid of illegals. Do not give any benefits to illegal aliens.
10. Make welfare recipients do work. In order to get a check, they have to pass a drug test (I had to pass a drug test at work).
And this is to start.

10. Make welfare recipients do work. In order to get a check, they have to pass a drug test (I had to pass a drug test at work).
If you make people work then how can it be for a welfare cheque. It should be classed as gainful employment and the money then would not be sufficient to meet the demands of everyday spending.
Surely the welfare cheque is to help people find work and not force them to work for next to nothing.
Also why do you think it's necessary to drug test everyone claiming welfare?

America at one point had workfare, the number of people on welfare dropped. We now have generations of people on welfare and they believe it is a right.
It should be self-evident why if you are using illegal drugs that your habit should not be aided by the GVT giving you money.
Yes I am a hard hearted guy, if you are an able bodied male, work or starve. I have been laid off of 5 different jobs, I never took (or even applied) for welfare. I did what ever it took from cooking hamburgers, selling cars, washing dishes to earn my keep.

Maybe they think that their government is screwing them so why not screw the government.
Maybe they think take what you can while you can.

I was hoping for responses on a few current issues facing this administration, and see how people on the right would handle them.
When it gets to be Obama did this, Bush did that, and Reagan, Clinton, Nixon were right and Eisenhower warned about the military industrial complex, there is no discussion, only oratory.
I believe this is part of the reason there is so little discussion between the right and the left.
If we could stay on issue, listen the other man's points, and fact check, true discussion might return to our society.
Also let's keep the Brits out of the US Open
-
Obama (and the left) made made Guantanamo a campaign issue and promised to close it. So this is a problem of his own making.
And if the prisoners want to do a hunger strike, most of us on the right would let them.
So here you are correct, the right has no solutions for this is Obama's baby, we would have left it alone and not made a campaign issue of it. As the saying goes, careful what you ask for you may get it.
-
On the NSA snooping the G12, what is the reference for that? I don't recall seeing anything about it.
However, my initial impression is who cares? We would not have been the only country snooping during the conference.
I have already mentioned Syria, but I will add a caveat, I hope Obama just stops with stirring the pot arming the rebels, military intervention should not be on the table.
And what makes these issues dire? Gitmo and this NSA conference snooping are just noise. Seems to me the most dire thing should be the economy.
-
Urleft you made my point, when current problems are presented to the right instead of suggesting courses of action to, as in this case, response to the world on the NSA, feeding tubes in Quatanemo, and arming anti American groups in Syria, the right falls back to Obama's birth certificant, Bengazi, etc., showing that they have no solutions only constant negative comments.
So your point is that the right has no ideas to help, and to illustrate it you used Guantanamo which the left hammered republicans on, campaigned on it, promised to fix it and failed. You really expect the right to help here? And people think I am dense.
-
No I don't think anyone expects the republicans to help anyone... I think that was the point tonguebar2
-
What's the difference between a catfish and a politician ?
Ones a bottom feeding scum sucker, the other is a fish.
They are all shite, liars, and egomaniacs!!!
Nobody votes for who they think is best, we vote for those that we believe will do us the least harm

He said he wanted to know how the right would handle the issues using a Dem gotcha point. That does not lend itself to open discussion.

Most of these prisoners your words not mine have never been to court or been charged with any crime.
I am sure in America you are innocent until proven guilty so why do you think it's right to lock people away some for over 10 years on no charges.
To be keep locked up like animals as innocent men that they are goes against everyone's human rights.
If they are found guilty then they should rot in hell, but the American government need to realise that the system is supposed to be based on the word JUSTICE.

Different set of rules, these are combatants and can be held as long as there are hostilities.
That being said, I think Bush screwed up here and should have tried by military tribrunal, then executed or released them.

Do you honestly think this man is guilty of any crime.
He is now in his 13th year at Guantanamo bay but never been charged.
This is one of the reasons why so many people hate America.

From the article, he was captured in 2002, I was personally on the ground in Afghanistan in 2002, it was not a fun friendly place.
An UK resident, Saudi national, charity work in Afghanistan. These do not add up.
Also, what month was he captured? Where? What was his employment before he started his "charity" work? What was his charity organization?
If he was captured in March around the Shahi-Kot Valley his contention is really weak.

I have no idea how to answer your questions because i have no access to that sort of information.
But the question remains the same,if there is evidence to show that he was involved in terrorist activities then he should be charged, convicted and sentenced by a court for the crime/crimes that he has been found guilty of.
However if there is no evidence to show as in this case there is obviously none, then the man should be set free and be allowed to return home to his family, who themselves for year's have denied categorically his involvement in any terrorist activities.
I don't understand your laid back attitude to incarcerating innocent people without any evidence.
Not only has he had his freedom taken away, but he has also received beatings and mental and physical torture.
I do believe in the world of today we have something called human rights,or does America have it's own policies on human rights.

I already said about the trail and release on reply #25. But note, he is being held per the rules of war, not the US legal system.
And if the guy was caught with an AK-47 as a combatant it sucks to be him, he can be held for the duration of the hostilities as a POW. Also note this guy was not plucked off the streets of London, he was in a combat zone doing charity work, which means probably giving free lead to soldiers.
And since you can't answer the questions, how do you know the guy is not a combatant?

How many prisons let you go down to the beach? Guantanamo does. cool2

Because the American government haven't produced any evidence to suggest he is.

They don't need to as the guy is being held as a combatant, captured in a combat zone during the timeframe with some of the most intense combat operations (I was directly involved in these operations).
And all it takes is a picture of the children for you to believe he is wrongly held and overall good guy. You should be looking into the questions I posed, why isn't that information in the article or readily available, maybe the guy does want that info to get out.
Your hated of the US is clouding your objectivity.

However, what does this have to do with your angel at Gitmo that you don't even question what was a UK resident and Saudi national (like the 911 crew) was really doing in Afghanistan in 2002?

Shaker Aamer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Status Cleared for release since 2007, but still held in Guantánamo
Children Four children with his British wife, the youngest of whom he has never met
Shaker Aamer (born 12 December 1968) is a Saudi Arabian citizen and the last British resident held by the United States in the Guantanamo Bay detention camps in Cuba. He was captured in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, on 24 November 2001 and was brought to Guantánamo on 14 February 2002, where he has now been held for 11 years, 4 months, and 5 days.
According to documents published in the Guantanamo Bay files leak, the US military Joint Task Force Guantanamo believed in November 2007 that Aamer had led a unit of fighters in Afghanistan, including the Battle of Tora Bora, while his family was paid a stipend by Osama bin Laden. The file asserts past associations with Richard Reid and Zacarias Moussaoui. Clive Stafford Smith, a human rights lawyer, said the leaked documents would not stand up in court. He pointed out that part of the evidence comes from an unreliable witness and that confessions Aamer made had been obtained through torture. Aamer’s father-in-law, Saaed Ahmed Siddique, said: "All of these claims have no basis. If any of this was true he would be in a court now." The Bush administration acknowledged later that it had no evidence against Aamer.
Aamer has never been charged with any wrongdoing and has never received a trial and his lawyer says he is "totally innocent." He has been cleared for release by the Bush administration in 2007, and the Obama administration in 2009. But Aamer remains in Guantánamo. He has been described as a charismatic leader who spoke up and fought for the rights of fellow prisoners and some have speculated that this might be a reason for his continued detention. Aamer alleges that he has been subject to torture while in detention.
Aamer's mental and physical health has been declining over the years, as he has participated in hunger strikes to protest detention condition and been held in solitary confinement much of the time. He has lost 40 per cent of his body weight in captivity. After a visit in November 2011, Clive Stafford Smith said, "I do not think it is stretching matters to say that he is gradually dying in Guantanamo Bay."The UK government has been demanding his release for years, and a number of people there have repeatedly called for his release.
As for your theory on 9/11 you may think that people in caves from Afghanistan/Pakistan are responsible for this attack, but some of us believe the people responsible are a lot closer to home.
-
it would of been simpler to execute them all (i mean die in a tragic accident), pay some compensation then move on...cant say im particularly sympathetic to the Gitmo prisoners, and any human rights for any extremist of any sort does not particularly gain any sympathy from me as they seem to have no interest in others rights...N.B. i am not saying all those prisoners are extremists, but there is a good chance 99.99% of them are.

Kudos for your research, even if Wikipedia is an unreliable source. What charity organization was he supporting?
My basic thoughts are that if the UK wants him so bad the US should give him to them. There is the old saying, be careful what you ask for.
However, where did you find my thoughts that people in caves from Afghanistan/Pakistan are responsible for this attack? The closest I recall saying anything was that the a lot of the attackers were Saudi nationals. Was Shaker Aamer living in a cave?

Quantonemo should be closed and the people should be sent home.
There 166 detainees, 40 of them are considered by the government as dangerous.
40 new enemies are created with each drone attack, so, not such a big thing.
The damage Quantonemo is doing to the image of the US out weights the damage these 40 can cause. Additionally its closing would remove one political football and slightly reduce the nonsense our legislators and media are so wrapped up in.
With all of the real problems the world is facing, it's time to reduce as much BS as possible.

These ideas are perfect. Just too many people with their hands in the jar would be without the kickbacks and overpaid administrative jobs, so unfortunately the obvious fixes will never happen. What a shame, we had such good potential. I'm outta here as soon as I can. Tired of giving to the sick lame and lazy, not to mention the illegals. If I can give one family a good life elsewhere (Thailand), I am happy. OHHHHH I long for retirement. mhihi buriramsmiley smilebar

radicalisation of any sort is bad, islamists, christian, now even Buddhism in Burma....the one thing that seems to be universal is that there is no good coming from any radical section of any community...but by apologizing or appeasing these groups does not and will not fix the situation they only get more brash and more active as they believe their actions have been vindicated (maybe from a higher power). oppression equally does not work to be fair. i am certain that the general population in the west regrets the taking of innocent lives in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. while people still believe that there holy books contain moral certainty and superiority the innocent of all cultures will continue to be the victims.
Do we standby and do nothing, pull out of all conflicts and allow the suppression of women, brutal attacks on children, virtual slavery, murder for apostasy (changing of faith), extreme phedophilia justified by a supposed holy book written 1400 years ago...i don't have an answer to that, no matter what is done from hear the only certainty will be blood...and lots of it.

This is on Obama, he campaigned and promised to close it, it is a military base and as Commander in Chief he can direct its operations be stopped. The Republicans are not stopping him.
BTW, it is very unlikely the US will close Guantanamo (correct spelling) as there is too much strategic and political value in the base. However, they will someday cease the Detainee camp operation which is what I believe you really want.
-
Of course I'm talking about releasing the detainees not closing the Naval base, I thought that was clear, and thanks for the correct spelling.
You are also correct, in saying that, the dealing with the detainees is the President's problem, but your thinking that the problem is his living up to a campaign promise is completely off base.
The problem with the detainees has to do with, American ideals, our constitution, World opinion, human rights, and the threat to American interest. These issues effect all Americans.
By the way, I didn't pick this topic thinking that it was some sort of left wing trap, it happened to be on World news the other night, along with the other topics I initially brought up. They caused me to think of the complex issues our President has to deal with and I thought it would be interesting to get some right wing opinions about them so in six months or so we could compare.
-
While you might not have picked the topic with that in mind, it is a left wing trap. The left demonized Bush over Gitmo since it started having detainees. Most of the negative world opinion is because of how the left has portrayed it. Guantanamo was an excellent choice for the captured combatants (which is what they really are) as it was it is not in CONUS and therefore not subject to the US Courts, where us on the right think it was a good solution until the Left made a political issue of it.
So bottom line is that the left has dug this pit, pissed in it, promised to fix it, and now political realities are setting in that giving these detainees access to the US Courts is a really stupid thing to do. And the right is saying that the left has exacerbated Gitmo to the point that the right refuses to do anything to help fix it.
And now you hold this up as an example of the right have no ideas to fix the problem. Sounds like a gotcha to me.

How the media really works wackobar

The media is the problem, no objectivity, all agenda

A corrupt government running a corrupt media= LIES AND MORE LIES. smilenod

The USA could wipe out 70% of its corruption by bringing the lobby movements under control, or banning it totally. Corruption is a big business run by big business

Yes totally agree, trouble is it's always the poor working class that always get shafted, while the real criminals (Politicians) are making fortunes.
-
And here is at least one view of Obama:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIMucHfUMyg
Understand that she is a bit of a loon.
-
Well loon or not a lot of people will agree with her.
-
No matter what Stand you make, your gunna upset someone. Agree a bit of a loon, but some statements made sense, but given the options I won't judge the right or wrong of it.
-
The Irish minister statements are all true, but her overall point, I believe is not correct.
For instance;
Arming the Syrians resistance will prolong the conflict, but by not arming them the outcome will be decided with the government's air power and armor not negotiation, leading to power sharing.
The government helping New Jersey with the Hurricane Sandy relief program put many lives back together and does great good, but it hurts the budget reduction programs.
The issues are complicated and it is easy to take one part and criticize. To see these problems in total, and try the impossible by projecting different outcomes based on different courses of action is a totally different proposition.

I was on another forum when a guy responded:
Don't forget the coke head, alcoholic , frat boy, dui driving, moron, found Jesus, cowboy GWB.
Naturally I thought equal time was needed:
And you don't forget that dope smoking, Kenyan, Brit, Indonesian, dog eating, Ivy League, Muslim, lying, raghead Barry Soetoro.
But then again, since Obama was elected the US is treated with total respect by Russia and China, the Islamic nations love us, and all the Europeans now believe in the USA.

If that was on another forum, maybe keep it there!

The problem is that it's an all or nothing system.. There was a system that did work in the past and they did away with it. Regan, when he was Gov of California got a system in place where you took a job and if the job didn't pay enough then the welfare system would pick up the rest of the tab. But you were going to work. If you were able bodied and employment was offered to you and you refused to work then the welfare was cutoff. Right now, in many states, you make more on welfare then you can by having a job. There are jobs available. The last time I visited my daughter in Boston I saw help wanted signs all over the place.. If they do what is stated above then you put people back to work and you eliminate the dirt bags and scammers who are just milking the system. The state and the feds win as well as the employers. It saved a ton of money, back then, in California. It was done away with once Regan left office and the left wing came back in power (Gov Moonbeam - Jerry Brown). It's not that we don't have answers. It's just that no one is listening and the left wing media here doesn't want to give us the time of day.

it would of been simpler to execute them all (i mean die in a tragic accident), pay some compensation then move on...cant say im particularly sympathetic to the Gitmo prisoners, and any human rights for any extremist of any sort does not particularly gain any sympathy from me as they seem to have no interest in others rights...N.B. i am not saying all those prisoners are extremists, but there is a good chance 99.99% of them are.
Thank you so very much Speros.. Well said.. I think we found a point of agreement here..

Thank you... I wish they would but we've tried releasing a number of them and their home countries refuse to take them back or the prisoners are afraid to go back because they know they will be executed in their own home countries.. Amazing isn't it???

Unbelievable.
I assume that you're American?
You assume an awful lot..
-
Urleft you made my point, when current problems are presented to the right instead of suggesting courses of action to, as in this case, response to the world on the NSA, feeding tubes in Quatanemo, and arming anti American groups in Syria, the right falls back to Obama's birth certificant, Bengazi, etc., showing that they have no solutions only constant negative comments.
Amen to both of you.. Totally agree.. Looking forward to retirement and a new life in the LOS..

bravo1 bravo1 bravo1
radicalisation of any sort is bad, islamists, christian, now even Buddhism in Burma....the one thing that seems to be universal is that there is no good coming from any radical section of any community...but by apologizing or appeasing these groups does not and will not fix the situation they only get more brash and more active as they believe their actions have been vindicated (maybe from a higher power). oppression equally does not work to be fair. i am certain that the general population in the west regrets the taking of innocent lives in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. while people still believe that there holy books contain moral certainty and superiority the innocent of all cultures will continue to be the victims.
Well said.. No need to go any further then that..

Thank you.. The media and 535 characters in the Congress who don't seem to care what their constituents think

You missed this quote.
-
No.. I didn't miss anything.. I've heard and said it all before.. He may be a big part of the problem but he's had a lot of help.. Just look at the exemption he just gave all of congress from his health care plan.. How many of them stood up and said he can't do that? How many of them refuse to take the exemption? Very few.. They could put a big dent in his agenda but, so far, they haven't, and I doubt that they will.. It took a long time for things to get this screwed up.. It's just that since Obama has been in office the whole thing's gone on steroids.. It's Chicago, thug, politics gone nation wide.. Enough said..

California may force-feed some inmates on hunger strike, judge says
Source: Reuters - Mon, 19 Aug 2013 11:26 PM
SACRAMENTO, Aug 19 (Reuters) - California authorities won court permission to force feed some hunger striking inmates who are refusing food to protest against the state's practice of holding prisoners believed to be gang members in near-isolation for years on end.
In response to a request from prison officials who said they feared some inmates had been coerced into participating in the strike, U.S. District Court Judge Thelton E. Henderson said prison doctors may force feed some inmates who are near death, even if they had signed orders asking not to be resuscitated.

If they want to be matyrs then let them die.. the same for GITMO.. but for GITMO the situation is quite easy.. Close the place down and send them home whether they want to go or not and whether their countries want them or not.. The state of California should be even half as concerned about Victims' rights as they are about the rights of the criminals.

Yes, I heard the us was going to give them a car and return them by aircraft carrier:

Perfect launch..
