I'm not sure it still does go into Korat as I recently saw it on the 24 between Chok Chai & the 304.

The NCA buses that I have seen and road on that uses the 24 are out of Surin, SiSaket and Ubon and do not go to Korat. The NCA bus to Chiang Mai uses the 216 from Surin to Buriram and doe not go to Korat. If there is an NCA bus from Buriram to Korat I'll put a beer on it that it also uses the 216 from Buriram to Korat.

The NCA 588 SERVICE FROM RAYONG/PATTAYA TO UBON CALLS AT KORAT WHEN HEADING TOWARDS UBON & IT COMES FROM KORAT TO CHOK CHAI THEN ALONG THE 24.IT DROPS DOWN IN NONG KI AT AROUND 15-00HRS.I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE NIGHT TIME SOUTHBOUND DOES NOT GO INTO KORAT,THE EARLY AFTERNOON ONE USED TOO BUT I'M NOT SO SURE IT DOES NOW

Why not use one of the 115 buses and mini vans that ply this route daily?
I know NCA is probably the best, but for such a short trip, surely one of the others would do?

You would have to be suicidal to use anything but NCA.. jumping8

If you have seen the road kill on the highways that I have (buses) you would change your mine. I'm not saying NCA is perfect BUT I have not seen or heard of a NCA bus accident. All other bus companies in Thailand have a monopoly on the metal recycling centers. If NCA does not go where I want to go,I drive.
PS In March I had to take a local from Buriram back to Surin. 40 bt. 1 hr. It had chickens hanging off the back.

I agree NCA is the best.... if it goes where you want. But apparently there is no NCA bus which goes from Buriram to Korat. So you choose a minibus, if you dare, or a Government P.1, which doesn't crash too often.
